Don’t buy one coin or bar at a time. I did that for months and look back on how much I lost paying mega premiums. Save up for weekly or monthly buys of 5 or 10 coins, rounds, or bars at a time. Even with 250$ a month or every other month if you’re truly a poor fat that means 10 oz of low premium silver or a 1/10th oz of gold.

I’ll likely be making less than you once I’m done fixing my house and start waging again and my plan is 1/4 oz of gold or a tube of silver every month. This way I’m stacking both equally and keeping to the arbitrary but balanced ratio of 1:100 (even though it’s technically more like 1:80.)

Last bit of advise is to never panic buy or buy on credit. Stack slowly but securely. An anon last thread said it quite well; unless you’re dying you never sell your stack.

The fundamentals are also in mavor of silver, even without a monetary collapse, because of its technological, industrial, and medical applications, the rising demand, the shrinking supply, and the sheer difficulty of recycling it.

You don't have enough capital to seriously consider silver, not because there's no way you could ever possibly benefit from it, but because at the pace you could buy it, you're going to hit higher premiums more frequently.

Save your money for now and look into buying your own property before you think about PMs. Or save your money to pay for training and occupational certifications that can get you out of the dead end and better income. Either way, don't think magically or buy into anyone's delusion that 10oz of silver can ever swing hard enough in value to lift you out of poverty. PMs can act as a decent store of value, but you need to generate value in the first place for that to be meaningful.

I like silver as much as anyone here, but that’s something to consider!
Yes, there’s a small but non-neglible chance that it’ll “moon” (though it’s certainly going to be a laughable x2 or x10 if we’re going full on shizo, I.e. a small movement in shitcoin parlance) but it’s mostly for preserving wealth and getting rid off all the modern risks you’ve got with fiat, stocks and crypto.
Now how much wealth you need to have to think about preserving some is up to discussion, but unless you’re playing with some leveraged derivatives, you’re not gonna get rich from silver (but you’re also not gonna end up royally fucked as the the various leveraged guys and the various pink Wojak threads).

Even if we’re going full on Reddit and assume silver will x100, your 10 Oz “stack” will now have the purchasing power of 20k$ at todays prices. Sure, 20k ain’t bad but this will not magically make you part of the leading caste.

Everyone else has given you relatively shitty advice. I used to have zero savings in 2018, and now I have almost 17k in silver. Start by simply buying 1 oz generic rounds of silver (do not buy national coins yet) from a local store. Buy them at $1000 at a time. $500 maybe for your first purchase. If they charge you more than $5 over "spot", they are charging too much. Tell the coin shop that you'll be buying regularly. Once you have 100 oz of silver, consider saving for an ounce of gold (buy your gold as a 1 oz national coin, the reputation of them is worth the "premium"). Go back and forth between gold and silver over time, you will naturally get a feel for how much of each you should have.

I myself have only silver right now.

THIS IS FINANCIAL ADVICE.

So here's my advice the others will shit on: PMs are for building generational wealth. These are not short term investments. With that said, it's the last stop on the road, not the first. Picrel is a possible guide. I would put PM either in the top or 2nd-to-top tier.

In short you need to focus first on:
>being able to pay for basic physiological needs: food, rent, water, transportation
>An emergency fund holding at least 6 to 12 months of basic necessities: rent, groceries, health care, etc. These are your true expenses.
>Insurance, a decent home, a good job
>you should probably fuck a few girls so you don't develop a mental illness, but don't marry any whores. it should be obvious who they are but low IQ people can't see the signs

Once you're in a place where a rugpull on your job or health can't completely destroy you, then you can focus on building a portfolio. When you buy PMs it shouldn't feel like a major sacrifice or risk, it should feel routine and uninteresting, like buying groceries or paying a subscription. Until you can approach it with that level of coolness I don't think it's a good idea to get involved.

Good advice.
Though you could also add some metals to the second tier. They are somewhat of an insurance against inflation (though an imperfect one) and could come in handy in the unlikely case that the two-more-weeks shizos are right.
And considering inflation, they could also be a worthwhile addition to the emergency fund if you deem the risk of inflation higher or the same as what you’ll might loose because prices fell and/or premiums you loose when you have to sell at a bad timing.

silver and gold have unique real world properties that cannot be replicated by other metals.

BTC can be replaced by a protocol that is the exact same but with a different name.

My copypasta:
- When a new series of artful or themed bullion is issued, the first of the series are often missed by later collectors. They may pay high premiums to fill in their series. Beware: generic and/or cringeworthy themes are less likely to appreciate.
- Low-mintage series are often priced very high, but may in time increase in value the most.
- Gov't-issued coins cost least during the mint run. Once the mintage stops and dealers run out of stock, their prices jump, then rise only a bit faster than generic silver. Maples, Eagles, Wieners, Britannias, etc. are all nice but boring. Annual changes to overall designs become series (Somali elephants, Canadian Wildlife, Australian kookaburras or koalas, island nations' series, etc.), adding potential series appreciation.
- If you buy pieces that appeal to your sense of art, taste, and interests, you will still appreciate them even if the price or value of the PM goes nowhere. Caveat: if you go to sell, it's harder to part with them.
- Some beautiful generics are priced comically high (Germanias, GSM special editions, e.g.) Be aware: dealers may categorize and price these as "generic" (meaning below or at spot) when buying them from you. Or the gamble might pay off as they become very popular (Englehard, PAMP, antique miners/refiners, e.g.).
- For new generic bars, beware the premiums (added charges) over spot: they go up for smaller pieces.
- Shipping is an added premium. Many online vendors offer free shipping for purchasing a minimum amount (commonly $200). Factor that your local coin shop has no shipping to charge.
- Vendors may charge extra for using a credit card. That might balance if your card offers cash back.
- Keep all sales receipts and a spreadsheet of your purchases to track profit/loss: it's quite revealing and may help guide future decisions. Example ("PurchaseRecords" tab):

This is what I never understood about people who crow that bitcoin "has a finite limited supply."
>21,000,000 bitcoin in the world is mined
>I make an identical coin with an identical protocol and name it Jizzfartcoin, and immediately make all 21,000,000 coins available.
>there is now more crypto
This is functionally identical to fiat.

what physical properties make gold more valuable than silver? platinum? Tying gold's value to metallic properties implies its use in industry is supporting its price, when that is not the case. Gold is valuable because of its historical and current use as money and store of value.

agreed 100% - that's why it's been used as a store of value forever. It's why I collect it, and why I don't own any platinum or palladium or rhodium.

My gold will still be there and can be recovered at any point by anyone for hundreds even thousands of years later, short of that particular hill being vaporized by some catastrophe. That man's bitcoin may "exist" but as you said its un recoverable. Gold and silver can literally survive the ages, and being thrown into the ocean, as evidenced by all the treasure hoards and lost ships that are constantly found, bitcoin can't.

platinum is half the price of gold and 30x rarer, with its industrial uses supporting its current price. 75% of the market for platinum is industrial and automotive uses, compared to <15% gold market being used outside of bullion/coin/jewellery. Gold is not valuable for its properties like other metals are.

>Gold is not valuable for its properties like other metals are.
If you mean that it doesn't derive ALL of its worth from its properties then fine, all would agree with this. But to say it has zero value for its properties is plain retarded. Move your goalposts all you want though.
