It's not a cope, modern warfare has proven that ballistic missiles are fast enough to get though point defense weaponry (not 100%) and even potentially being undetected until it's too late, that's how advanced it has become in such little time. Pair this with the fact that those missiles can now travel relatively close to the ground/sea level and it becomes incredibly hard to intercept if you even detect it beforehand.

The u.s. spends a multiple billions of dollars on a carrier. The protection they put on those ships for their investment is fucking ridiculous. Their phalanx whatever system is a literal lead wall of 20mm explosive rounds from multiple guns. Ive talked to people in the navy. They regularly get briefing talking about ship killer missiles. I never served, so I dont know the specifics, but from what I understand, if a single missile, or even a barrage of a handful of missiles is fired at the ship, there is almost no chance of it making it through. Once the number is nearing double digits, the systems will still hold solid, but have a hard time.

Not once did I mention Russia for the sake of generalizing (US, EU, Russia, China, Iran). You are arguing in bad faith and in which case if what you propose is true then we would have to determine the amount of successful missile intercepts as opposed to nonsuccessful, if the success rate is relatively high would we conclude that the slow speed of those missiles is negligible or that looking at a single webm to gauge the speed of said missile isn't perhaps accurate?

As for your second part. Our carrier groups are fucking massive. As large as most countries entire navies. Furthermore its a fact that the hypersonic missles are slower than icbms in their terminal phase. The military knows this, and I gurantee their information isnt coming from watching webms and assuming. And all of this is ignoring the fact that its not exactly easy to target targets that are moving around the water and those hypersonic missles arent exactly so cheap that you will be slinging them willy nilly hoping you can hit your target.

I don't understand how this is a good argument unless you're suggesting that point-defense can easily intercept ICBMs and thus hypersonic. I would also easily say that the supplies needed to manufacture those missiles have become increasingly cheap as time has gone on to the point that launching a salvo of them would yield practically desirable results. With the targeting technologies used in todays missile systems for some nations the problem of hitting moving targets has become less of a nuisance, sure it's still a problem, but anecdotal evidence of just watching videos showcasing just how accurate those systems have gotten suggest that it's a minor issue.
