Nice digits, I'l share some thoughts about the enviable position that Chainlink stakers are in.

Chainlink's current structure involves a "community pool" which is 25 million staked LINK allocated to the public, with plans to scale that up to 75 million.
Now, imagine that that is the only quantity of LINK that ends up getting allocated for this role. That means there are only 75 million entry tickets ever offered into Chainlink staking (for the non node operating public).
Now imagine we are getting closer to v1, hype is building, Chainlink is much higher profile, and there is a long, long line to join that 75m pool. And let's say that if you unstake any amount, not just of your staked LINK, but of your rewards, then you will join the back of the line when it comes to restaking.
Suddenly, there is a very strong disincentive not just for unstaking your principle (and joining the back of the line to get back in) but even of unstaking any more of your rewards than you absolutely have to.
Fudders like to harp on about how stakers won't know when they will be able to withdraw, with the implied assumption that, by the time that happens, stakers will be desperate to remove their rewards. But it's far more likely that, by the time withdrawing is possible, the incentives to stay in will be so strong that barely anyone withdraws any. Which means the 75m pool stays mostly full, which means the line barely moves.

But that's not all. Without even getting into BUILD rewards, consider the following: This is crypto. Composable derivatives are constantly being made for everything that has value. And staked LINK still has value. So... you'll be able to take loans out against your staked LINK anyway. You can remain staked, and take out cash at the same time. And as long as the interest keeps covering the payments you just sit there, fully staked, staking all rewards, getting BUILD drops for free, and taking loans out against your staked assets to have spending money.

We will likely pump before they are released from their obligation. That composability usually requires a receipt token in return once staked. I suppose its possible they can offer that to already staked LINK I.E. something similar to staked ETH through LIDO stETH. That being said the composability will have to come from the LINK team though only as a result if you want that option without unstaking.

Also taking those loans for liquidity aren't risk free. They have liquidation points.

Staking is actually a really bad deal prior to V1.0

Its a better risk reward scenario to be able to sell and take profits and reinvest right now in the event of a small run

Locking up more than 20% of your assets for 4.75% for an undetermined amount of time is a poor strategy from a risk analysis stand point.

I have a lot of LINK, some of which I'm literally never selling, and will stake eventually but the recent staking is dog shit tier.

Just buy accumulate spot, hold in cold storage, and wait.

I think chainlink labs has been fully caught in this svb fiasco and are scrambling for plans to pay engineers , researchers and the army of blue haired +300k TC HR ladies. >You're assuming you will have a choice, and easy access to staking at some arbitrary point in the future. Only existing stakers have actual guarantees that their tokens are in the system.

Of course there will be a choice in the future. Liquid staking was already announced by LINKPool. Its possible others like LIDO will offer the service as well. Once V1.0 begins there will be no cap on staking and nothing will be stopping anyone as you will freely be able to stake or unstake. Unless something changes sooner V1.0 is when I'll reassess.

No I'm just not a retard and am operating in an incredibly cautious manner. Imagine thinking I'm spreading FUD when I have legit said accumulate, put in cold storage, and wait. LINK is going to make patient people insanely rich all you have to do is not fuck it up. I'm considering staking an unnecessary risk for little return thus far.

I have a set amount I'm never selling of my stack but it still didn't make sense to lock it yet. After all the bullshit like Celsius, Bancor, LINKPool, FTX etc I decided to let others test the initial staking contracts for me.

>lmao what a pussy how are those 3rd party companies with 0-risk management related to the chainlink?

I replied to a post that mentioned borrowing from your LINK once staked. This is only doable through liquid staking mechanics which LINKPool announced they were going to be doing awhile back. They are connected to Chainlink professional but after the LPL/SDL incident they aren't all that trustworthy. If its profitable, others like the LIDO dapp will likely do the same. There can always be temporary failures or problems that cause short term pain but doesn't kill it long term. Tons of dapps have survived hacks and bugs and went on to be successful.

I don't know anymore, anons.

What can I even sell for in the next 3 years? I don't know how to conceive of a decent price that makes any sense.

It's unprecedented for a coin to go from top 5 to almost out of top 30. I was obsessed with LINK but wtf is going on now. Its performance is shit. Its chart is shit. I legit just one of you reasonably-to-conspiratorially bullish fucks to convince me to keep hodling my bag, a decent sized one. Is there any non-schizo reason to keep holding? It sucks, but it is not unprecedented. Most don't come back though. Peercoin, Omni, Paycoin, Bitshares, MaidSafeCoin, Dash, Litecoin, Monero, Bcash, EOS were all top 5 once. Only Litecoin and Monero are somewhat relevant still.

That could very well happen. It shouldn't be a problem though once V1.0 staking is open and there is no longer a cap on the amount staked.
