People are so stupid. They have absolutely no idea how to understand nuance. "I hold physical gold and silver because it has no counter party risk, etc." somehow gets interpreted as "this idiot doesn't own stocks, he hides all his money in a hole in his back yard to prepare for end of the world!!!! LOLOLOL!!!" No you fucking retard. Keep like 3 to 5% of your net worth in physical precious metals just in case the worst DOES happen. Frankly, it's stupid NOT to own a small amount of gold and silver.

The secret is that all banks are fucked. Those experiencing a liquidity crisis right now will disappear. The remainder will seem great until fed funds rate reverts right back to zero and suddenly they're back to marginal profitability despite another wave of mass inflation.

There's no winning because our economy cannot support a meaningful level of real positive yields.

All of finance and wealth is a zero sum game. If I sell you an option, there is a very clear winner and loser. But what if we both invest in a company, earn money, and the company does well? This manifests itself in the GDP and annual reports, which affects exchange rates of currencies, and worldwide inflation and cost of goods.
It's not a bad thing per se, it's just something to be aware of. Someone else always pays the cost.

I don't wanna fall in love I just wanna get fucked
Shoveling mountains of terrible stuff
Heroin, ketamine, jellybean puff
Shove it in me brain, get it all mixed up

Like wow!
I'm a troubled soul
I'm livin in a studio flat that's covered in mould
Come outside just to shout at strangers
Then I crawl in a hole like an ugly mole

I love drugs and sketchy pills
But my favourite ones are the ones that kill
Quickly
When I go will my loved ones miss me?
Well the answer's no
Chuck my corpse in a big main road
Turn my head to a powered skull
Let rain pour turn that to mulch
And that's the last scene of the patrick show

I sniff glue gun paste now my face is plastic
Having a gangbang to jackson 5
I'm a ratchet guy
Lost my wife what a prat goodbye
No!
Don't talk to me
Unless it's an emergency
I gotta go I gotta take a number 3
That's a piss and a shit and a wank in a tree

I said hello there can I fill your hole
She took one look and she told me no
I got a wife at home and she hates me
I sleep outside cos she makes me
Big bowl of the cocaine that's my breakfast
I tried crack once I just wanted to test it
And I'm hooked now
I could marry my pipe
My wife wouldn't care she just wants me to die

It's party time get your drugs out
If you want to make love get your muffs out
It's party time get your drugs out
Do you wanna make love to a sad old man?

It's party time get your drugs out
If you want to make love get your muffs out
It's party time get your drugs out
Do you wanna make love to a sad old man?

I said a hip, a hop, a hip
I dip my dick in the salsa dip
On a taco tuesday!
Can I spaff on your booblays? (Say yes)
Feel free to say no
Bald, mean, and full of beans
I got a yamaha keyboard drum machine
Metallica patch on my dungarees
I said girl, can I get your number please?

Banks have to hold bonds as collateral. Most of them would have been bought before bonds dumped 50%. Balance sheet gets fucked, not a problem unless you have to mark the book to market. Which is what happens when you have to sell to improve liquidity conditions.

Banks that aren’t the top few are going to be taking heat, especially as more and more consumers tap out and withdraw/refuse to deposit.

That's rough and, let me tell you, I've been there.

Best advice I can give is take a good, hard look at each position. Its chart, news, what you think you know that the market doesn't. If it's down, whatever, 50%, that's painful and you gotta work through the pain. Only then can you reassess whether it'll recover with a 100% rally or you're better off bailing before it drops 60%, 70%, 90%.

I'd also say that 0 dte's seem to have made VIX screwy. I'm sure somebody has a handle on it but I sure as hell don't. If you're in the same boat, there's no shame instead hedging with something like short dated index puts.

In hindsight I think that's why my VIX calls were doing poorly, since a lot of the volatility was in near-dated contracts, rather than be more forward looking.
A lot of it is that I'm early or don't move on the right thing. For example, 8 months ago I was bullish on Mexico via EWW and it's up nearly 17% YTD as of last week, didn't take a position.
Right now I have picrel in my trading port plus 2k cash. I have a pair trade with +EWQ/-EWG right now as well. Pretty much every day I end up with 1-2% losses and it's been that way for a full year. I'm generally more disciplined on my trades these days, though I fomo'd hard into shorts today when /smg/ started freaking out

>A lot of it is that I'm early or don't move on the right thing.
Uranium definitely gives me that vibe and it's why I sold out a month ago. All the miners are just barely clinging in there financially and it's really a "wait and see until a shortage forces the futures price above 52" game. No sense having dead money parked waiting for a hype train that may be several months away.

CMRX is probably also worth cutting back on. Avoid losses and deadweight until the first vials of pox actually go missing or mysterious cases are reported. Dialing your schizometer back just a tad will save you a lot of downside at the cost of only a little frontrunning.

Mexico was certainly getting help from the peso strength/dollar weakness trend. No habla espanol, but I'd want to learn so I can get an idea of what the central bank there is doing. That and DXY would probably drive things short term more than the friendshoring meme.

And isn't EWQ/EWG an arbitrage play between Europe vs China? Don't know enough about their economies but I think I heard something like that.
