Pera says rekeys can be reversed. If myalgo is compromised wouldn't rekey just slow them down as they can just unrekey? I transferred everything but .1 (to see if it gets stolen) off myalgo wallet to a new wallet I just created with Pera. Why is that not better than rekeying

you can't always transfer everything associated with your account over to a new one, e.g. if you entered governance, you'll lose your spot. but if you just want to transfer algo, that's totally fine.

rekeying means that you have to sign transactions for your account with the private key of another one. to set this up, you have to send a special transaction that mentions the new authorized address and you sign it with your current private key. after that, every transaction requires the private key of the new authorized account. so if you rekey to an account that the attackers don't have the private key to, you are completely safe.

if you are extra retarded, you could rekey your original account back to itself, essentially reverting the operation. when closing the account (i don't think any graphical wallets surface this in the UI) the rekeying is also undone, but to do this you'll have to send all algo off to somewhere else anyway (and again, that requires the private key of the current authorized address for the account).
