It's a gap in the CME Bitcoin chart created when the Chicago Mercantile Exchange closes for the weekend and opens at a different price compared to where it closed at. Since there is a lot of "locked liquidity" in that gap, either market forces and/ or certain actors will often move the price to "fill" the gap, eventually. Since people arbitrage across all exchanges and markets, a big move on CME will be reflected on Binance, Coinbase etc.

Who fills it though?
And why does it have to be filled?

>> No.53950825

>>53950793
Yes but only second from the left remains to be filled. It will be filled when price actively trades across the gap, which is from like $20,500 down to $20,000, roughly.

There is still an enormous CME gap at 3.5k btw

People do, bots do, probably the exchange itself goads price there.
There is an axiom that price moves towards the range of greatest liquidity. Well, there is a lot of liquidity in those gaps. Buy and sell orders, liquidation levels and such that never got filled because price never traded in that range.
Nature abhors a vacuum, and all that.
