My girlfriend’s dad is a banking exec, I told him I’m all in on crypto. He and I met yesterday. He is a kind and mild mannered guy who comes off as deeply intelligent. I asked him how he felt about decentralized finance and he said it was a risky venture (no surprise from his banking point of view) and anyone putting money into it is a fool. He seemed disappointed that his daughter’s boyfriend wanted to talk about crypto and Red Rabbit token. For me, crypto has fundamentally changed my life - it has taught me about finance, geopolitics, and that I have the agency to live a life I wasn’t sure was possible. So, when he seemed disappointed, what did I do? I doubled down. I gave an impassioned speech about why cryptocurrency is changing the world and democratizing resources that traditionally only the wealthy had access to. It is giving poor communities a fighting chance and that it is revolutionary and something that is a big part of my investment strategy. I don’t know what the point of this post is, but I just, idk, he made me feel like a fool of an investor because he either just doesn’t get it or is scared of it and I feel like his view of me has become less favorable in terms of dating his daughter, but I’m going to stand up for what I believe in. Ramble over.

Age is a big factor too. They’re literally agest; you must have an open line of credit for 25 years or longer to be in the top category. Also, you must have a huge line of credit, but are limited to an account per year without it negatively affecting you, so it’s stacked against people who are younger. FICO score is just another way for Boomers to gatekeep everything they have and not allow millennials to obtain anything. But soon, they will all die. Only a matter of time, kike-minded boomertachi.

you do not want "perfect credit" as it will be looked at like you are gaming the system, and therefore a reason to possibly deny

The problem is the system is fucked up.. You need to have a good clip of available credit meaning multiple credit cards/loans and then companies want to see that you can manage revolving credit, meaning keeping debt on the books to show you can pay it off while handling other bills. It's a stupid game to play.

If you reach 800 congrats you have bullet credit any higher and it starts to look suspicious

>25 years or longer to be in the top category
>huge credit line
bit of an exaggeration, I have less than 10,000 dollar line of credit on my cards, but yeah the score system is definitely whack, it shouldn't be used for things like pre-employment screening and housing, that's just bullshit. "Get experience before you can get experience". Stupid.

Thankfully as long as you save money and have responsible savings you can do most things without having a credit score at all.

Well. I am not exactly sure I agree with what you're saying but I agree with your reasoning. Can't seem to get an unsecured card at the moment just because history is so short. Thought about becoming an authorized user on my parents card so that I can get a secondary unsecured card.

>Currently only have one secured card with an absolute poverty 200$ limit because I didn't realize the initial deposit was going to be a revolving limit I figured it was similar to like a pre-paid debit card were I would have to keep depositing so my mistake.

>Also been looking at doing a small secured loan to build loan history as well since I don't really want an auto loan.

Hoping I can get approved for FHA in-order to get a multi-unit building towards year end but not sure show it will play out.

>I also never let more then 30% utilization report on my statement and I immediately pay it off.

I try to live within my means, Carrying a small consumer debt of like 2k or something for golf clubs is one thing but I feel like that is how it starts, Then only half is paid off and now you need new dishwasher and you never recover so I try to avoid as much as possible.

> Well. I am not exactly sure I agree with what you're saying but I agree with your reasoning.

I think that comes from a difference in thinking. A business is looking at how you handle credit, how much you have, and does your score go outside of the bell curve creating an alert in their mind.

Also, different companies weigh your credit differently.. An auto loan has its own factors to review whereas a business loan or personal loan will use others. Yet at the end of the day, the score is just a high-level data point. It's all the data points that derive that high-level score that matter the most if you want to be comfortable in securing any type of loan/credit and know you are good with credit per the system.

> I also never let more then 30% utilization report on my statement and I immediately pay it off.

30% utilization is high and can negatively affect if left that way. Max 10% tops but I get it that if you don't have a lot of available credit that utilization will go up fast. For pretty much everyone out there keep your nose clean and pay off your bill in full if possible always

I agree completely. I have heard that the fico score albeit not a small data point but isn't the sole factor in determining approval like you mention a personal loan may consider other debt one has or an auto loan may consider your insurance premium or something as a risk factor.

>True, I agree 30% is like the max. Point being is that I try to let a small amount of utilization report so it shows I am actually using the credit but I don't carry the balance past the statement report if that makes sense.

>I also always pay in full but would report a zero balance on statement date not realizing showing zero utilization was affecting me so I let a little report and then pay it off in full.

This is horseshit. Don't be a retard.

Anything above 750 is superfluous as it all gets the best rates, but nobody's looking at 800+ credit scores as "suspicious". Having a thin credit file is something else, and it's true that an 800 with several open lines of credit is better than an 800 with one credit card, but all the rest of what you're talking is paranoid nonsense. No, you don't need to hold a balance to "show you can pay it off" without being "suspicious". Are you applying for a job at Fort Knox or something? Some government job with Super ExtraDoubleMax security clearance? Good credit just means you haven't fucked any creditors over which is all anyone cares about, it's not a schizoid horoscope litmus test.
