I'm just starting out in life. My 2003 Honda civic needs a new alternator. My father died in Iraq and my mom has done the best she could, but she can't really help with money because I have 2 sisters that she is raising. Any advice?

replacing an alternator on an 03 honda should be like 2-300 tops. It sucks, but you gotta do it man. Dont put that shit off, its a huge opportunity cost. I lost a lot of potential money by brooding about a lemon a nigger scammed me with instead of just dumping it and moving on.

>>53926375
Yes, you could do it yourself. Alternators are generally very accessible. Might take you a couple hours. Alternatively, you can find a cheap mechanic on craigslist and offer em 50-100 to do it. You'll pay 150-200 tops. Get it done.

it’s like two or three bolts usually, you just need a ratchet set for whatever size. Sometimes a pipe for leverage is handy for more torque when loosening. Just put the belt back on the way you found it.

Or better yet, a basic mechanics tool set with sockets and a 3/8" drive should set you back about $100. Learning to work on your own vehicle is very rewarding and will save you $$$ as time goes on. And a Civic like this is the perfect vehicle to learn on.

Keep tabs on all of your spending (e.g. google spreadsheet, notebook, phone app). If you have any good friends, use their stuff instead of buying your own if it's little cost to them (e.g. printers, tools, games, services). Only buy practical items that hold value. Shop at the cheapest grocery food store that you can find and cook your own meals instead of eating out. Skip the gym membership. Don't buy software if there's a free option. consider yourself lucky you're owning a pre 2005 honda. they're easy as fuck to repair and maintain. and there's a gazillion quality after market parts. just keep rust away and it'll run forever. oil change every 6k miles, oil filter as well, change fuel filter every 15-20k miles and adjust valve clearance, change timing belt every 60-100k miles and the engine is good to go. check your transmission fluid. if it has any blackish color don't change it anymore but if it is still red/slightly brown, change it. you can find all of this shit on youtube with visual instructions.

try to find the service manual for your vehicle (gen 7 civic) and change the PCV valve on your engine (they clog up the air intake when they get old/worn/damaged)

They are performative for social media to get weak pieces of shit like the OP to increase her internet mindshare. Men are hardwired to find this gesturing disgusting because of it being so over the top she isn't using it to pair bond she's using it to fleece simps. Using evolutionary signaling to attract a mate but setting it up Infront of a camera and exaggerating the sexual cues to attract millions of non mates to give her attention. This is the most retarded psyop this site has ever seen and yet nothing is being done to ban people who post this bitch

100$ for a brand new alternator(aftermarket)
add another 100-250$ for labor.

if this is too much for you then you should be asking yourself on how to make more money , pick up a trade ? mechanic , plumber , hvac tech all pay well and have an apprenticeship program where you get paid to learn on the job and once you become Journeyman (title varies from state to state ) you are making 80k min to 200k max a year if you work at the right places

nobody can change the cards that have been dealt to you , but you sure as shit have your future in your literal hands , don't use them to make someone else car payments use them to get to where you want to go

This last one will get you a comfy high paying job for sure within two years. You can easily get a SOC position (security operations center job). They always want people to over see security.
From what I've heard, system admin jobs are very comfy. Check it out.
