You can get like 5-10% premiums on sovs if you're lucky and you'd get like 15%+ premiums on gold fresh from the mint. Also they're sexy, fractional, historical coins. Most of my coins I got for a ~7% premium; some lower, some higher depending on if I wanted a numismatic spin on more than just plain sovereigns. Make sure you look into other historical fractional gold coins like LMUs and such, they have similar minute premiums and are fun to collect.

Old European fractionals are honestly incredibly appealing to invest in. Low premiums, well known, and a diverse amount of countries/time periods with many attractive designs. One of the biggest problems a lot of people have with investing in gold is no one wants to spend about $1900 for each purchase, so they try to find cost-efficient, cheaper alternatives. Sovereigns may just be touted here more for the simple fact that this is an English speaking website, with most people either being from the US or UK.

Short term inflation = assets go down because people expect interest rate hikes
Long term inflation = assets go up because cash is garbage

Once the Fed turns the money printer back on (and they will be forced to cut rates sooner than you think) shit will get wild.

Land and Home values have also plummeted btw.

Junk is definitely tricky to find at decent prices that isn't 40% or 35%. It's definitely worth buying in large amounts if the opportunity arises though due to how divisible it is, how hard it is to fake, how recognizable it is, and how easy it is to sell. If you ever see 90% at a small premium, jump on it. Merc dimes, quarters, half dollars, even if it's advertised as '90% (our choice)', it's well worth a small premium.

You don't, It's Egay. I don't even think it cares about the $1500 cap either.
I think there was a glitch at one point where it wouldn't charge tax, or at least charge the wrong (lower) amount, but that was fixed eons ago.

I guess that makes sense if you really like 2 rands. But dealers pay less than spot for those coins (hence why they're so cheap) and if you're already spending $1700 you may as well buy a full ounce for better liquidity.

Thx for the tip fren, you most likely saved me 8 bux with your post.
>Telecom companies are a good example of a legal cartel that's protected by the state thanks to their lobbying power.
You remind me of one of the biggest corruption scandal over here, it was about text messages via cellphones back in the early 2000s. All Telecoms secretly agreed to charge the exact same price per text sent for a decade, with the government accepting to close their eyes on the matter (in exchange of being showered with bribes).
It was 0.15€/ texto. It sounds so incredibly fucked looking back to it, now textos are unlimited and free in any contract. But back then it was considered normal, even though it costed Telecoms close to nothing to operate.

Yet, funnily enough, it's still the rate our telecoms charge the africans countries with. Since not a single african country yet have a sattelite in orbit, nor do they own the ground infrastructure, they have to use our Telecom giants for everything related to communication, and we charge the shit out of them, all while having full access to all sensitive informations, and the ability to control them at will. No country is free if they don't control their communications.

Normies still believe we westerners are muh depleting their resources, but in truth we don't even have to, all the plundering is made via our technologies : financial operating systems, communications infrastructures, etc... it's how we rape the shit out of them. And since it's invisible, unlike giant mines and slave labor, nobody gives a shit about it.

is it bad to handle my silver and gold? what's the point of owning gold and silver if i can't enjoy it? am i damaging it in a way that will degrade value? like if i get a proof age or ase or something obviously I won't crack it open and fuck with it, but for a regular AGE or a tube of ASEs it shouldn't matter if I fondle them right?

They are legit for right now, I bought pic related from them awhile back, they are just going through a cycle that every business strives for. A business will undercut all competition to drive up thier reputation, and steal costumers away from competitors, after said company has done this for long enough to shut down competition or steal enough customers to where they have a rather large and stable customer base they will slowly raise prices back up and recoup thier initial losses. If you consistently get good deals from a company then after awhile you will stop even checking other companies prices you will just assume you are getting the best deal from them rather you are or not.

I was thinking why is the Pound so strong, even stronger than the Dollar, when Britain produces nothing.

I came up with this on my own, based on all the knowledge I have accumulated over my years in finance.

London is the financial capital of the world, because everything has to go through London in terms of trade be it metals and commodities.

So a fiat currency means a faith based currency. So the farmer, instead of having faith in our lord Jesus Christ that God will provide a bountiful harvest at a just profit, he puts his faith in the jewish money lenders in the city of London and buys a derivative contract to sell his wheat for a fixed price at a fixed date and so the Pound gains its value from widespread fear and faith diverted from God to the money lenders.

I've not seen 24k jewelry in India. 22k is very common over here. Import duty for gold here is 18%. Then there is 15% to 20% jewelry making charges and 3% GST on top of that. So if you buy jewelry in India, you lose close to 20% to 25% if you sell it back. Buying gold jewelry in India is a bad idea. The government is actively discouraging it because Indians save money in the form of gold. From poor people to rich everyone buys gold, no cheap gold around here unless you count smugled gold.

It creates trading deficit. India does not produce gold, or produces negligible amount of gold. It has to import all the gold, to have balance, we need to import more Indian shit, this is generally not a problem but we import so much from China, they cant address that, so they attack gold instead.

:) yeah that's what I think too. Seller claims he guarantees it's authentic but i've never seen one in minty condition like that and I've got a few windmills, none of them look that good. Will give it a miss then. Thanks.

That's in great shape. Age means nothing to a coin that has been in a drawer for 84.9 years.
That kind of beauty + scarcity is exactly what make old coins so collectable.

Personally, I would never pay more than ~$10 for any 2RM coin. And even that is about $60/oz. I have about 20 of them.

>Personally, I would never pay more than ~$10 for any 2RM coin
He wanted quite a bit more for it than that ($23 including the shipping). Passed on it anyway. Bought a 5RM from a previous seller I've bought from and bought a lion of England ounce of gold and a bunch of on offer pre-owned silver krugs and a King Arthur. Today is pay day and i've already spent what's left in my budget. Stops me from spending it on other shit though.

What’s a good premium over spot for 2 and 5 happy windmills?
The premiums on eBay seem kind of wild, but I know you have to bid snipe to get a deal. So what is a “deal” on these?

First time investor here. I have 2 1/2 ounce coins, 2 1/4 ounce coins and 2 sovereigns in my cart.

>> No.53884459

Looks really sus, the picture isn't the best but besides total lack of even the slightest hint of toning (not a dealbreaker as people do dip coins to strip tarnish) there are no bagmarks or wear associated with circulation, the field/background looks bubbly/uneven and the contrast between embossed elements and the field looks mushy, or not as crisp and defined as it should be. Without other pictures to go on I suspect it's a higher quality cast fake. People like >>53884285 who can't detect the red flags are the reason anons caution against buying on eBay. I love eBay because I'm not retarded and can avoid suspicious pieces, but numisnoobs should probably just bend over and pay the premium otherwise their collection will be a counterfeit-filled embarrassment.
>>53879630
Thanks for the explanation fren, good luck casting!

I don't know about indian resource geology, but with a significant portion of the Himalayas (wich are essentially the same as the Alps, geologically speaking, and the Alps have (had...) plenty of gold. Seems like that is indeed so https://howtofindgoldnuggets.com/himalaya-gold-rush-mining-nepal/
(unfortunately, there's a weed cultivar named Himalaya gold, so I can't find fuckall online)
Also, the indian subcontinent is fuckhuge and geologically very diverse, so what gives?

>Who the fake would go through the trouble to fake a $10 coin? Especially if you are trying to build a reputation on ebay?
Numerous different Chinese forgery workshops make fake RMs, what you can easily find searching on Alibaba/AliExpress is just the tip of the iceberg. They make fakes of even lower-value coins such as 1964 Roosevelt dimes by the millions. Embracing ignorance and keeping your head in the sand doesn't insulate you from this ugly reality.
>There is <1% chance that coin being fake.
If you actually believe that then there is a 99% chance you have fakes in your stack. I'm sure you've found good deals on genuine pieces but you've demonstrated that you really don't know what you're doing, people guided by faulty heuristics like you are the reason faking low value coins is such a lucrative scam.
