>woke up
>turned on laptop
>no emails, no messages
>one meeting today cancelled and another postponed to afternoon
>work for over 2 hours straight... on learning coding on my non-work laptop
>applied for a few other jobs
>about to go to lunch
>plan to spend rest of workday on a few meetings, reading a book, watching anime

There was sunlight after work yesterday and it felt idyllic walking about after watching anime at the end of the work day.

Take it with a pinch of salt anon. A lot of it is overt bragging and therefore exaggeration. You dont get paid to fuck around and do nothing 99% of the time. almost every company has ways to check what youre doing productivity wise. he's probably the first week into the job on induction and hes bragging not knowing the heats going to get turned up as soon as hes tested the waters

Mine is a government job. We worked in an office until Covid hit. Then our Director determined our team could do our jobs from home and it's been made permanent. I got lucky af with my current job and am happy to keep it until I retire. I have good healthcare, a pension, decent pay rate and most importantly the work is ez af.

I WFH for one of the great american corporate monoliths. Anything is better than commuting but it is extremely busy. The people who come into WFH threads saying how easy it is probably see a lot more turn-over than busy senior employees.

We hire people for about 6 months, see if they can perform with the freedom and then flush them back to Wendy's.

Nah, i do assume most of these guys are bullshitting but hear me out for a second. I worked for four years on a call center and the first years was normal work until i had a good reputation in the company. At the start of the second year they moved me towards backlog work handling the leftover tasks that the rest of the company didn't do on time and i handled that with a small team of 10 (i was the supervisor). We didn't do jack shit
Some months we did 3 or 4 tasks that consisted of calling some client that wanted to complain about how he was treated or whatever and the rest of the days everyone was doing nothing at all. Some studied for college, some watched series and movies, a guy brought his laptop and played league connecting himself to the internet while we awaited for any email telling us to work. My only job was making sure the bosses thought we were working hard so i usually would make reports and send them to QM so they would think we were working every day. I had this job for four years with some new guys coming and going out of the company in the meantime, we all shared the secret as a team and we didn't have any problems until i got fed up of feeling useless and changed jobs. Good times.

Can't stress this enough. When me and a couple of other people started at a new department I made sure I did twice or even thrice the amount of work the other shmucks did. I got "exceeded expectations" review for two quarterlies, then I started to fuck around. I first took 2 hours pauses to see if anything would come up, but I still got amazing performance reviews. Now I do maybe 2 hours of work and I make sure to clock in for 10 hours so I have an extra day free. I usually start in the afternoon and then do fuck all.
Anyhow, you were doing god's work anon, wish there were more managers like you

the funny part is that even if you had to go in the office you could just go there to sit and do an hour of work and then wait until the day is over. that's the funny part of bureau jobs these days.

its funny cause the factory workers have to actually work all their hours. its not even an option to do nothing cause if you stop then the production stops too and still the people who work hard like in factories or on construction sites are paid less. lmaoo

I've noticed with cybersecurity that they care way more about you getting the job done than your degree/training. If you have proof that you're capable, then you should be good. See if you can build a little 'portfolio' showing off your skills.
