Just bought a new laptop and home office set up and claimed it all back as a business expense.

Ha, this thread reminded me of my dad. He had his own business as a carpenter and he'd end up being his way out of taxes by expensing everything until his taxable income was in the low $30k per year even though he was clearing $100k in the 90's. Then he hired some Mexicans, taught them the trade and paid them 1/3rd what he charged and was making bank.

Holy shit, I just remember something else... A girl I knew went to school and got need based grants for all 4 years, so did her siblings, even though her dad was a a very successful contractor. He was smart and wrote off everything. I remember going to their house and he had fucking night vision goggles that he let the kids play with and he joked around about how he needed to bring down his taxable income to a lower bracket so he bought some cool shit and wrote it off. He also got some coolers and stocked up his wine fridge that year. "Business gifts" he'd say. He'd say the IRS would never track down the recipients of those gifts and he was right.
