Is Golf a good way to make connections in Business? Would it be worth investing in Golf clubs and lessons for the financial implications? I've been asked a bunch over the years to come Golfing with coworkers/bosses. Can any golfers here say if it's help their career or financial status?

Never learned because I'm left handed and nobody ever had lefty clubs. If a driving range did have lefty clubs they wouldn't let a newbie use them. 26 so feel like now is the time

Maybe, it’s more reliant on being personable then anything else. But if you’re going to try to use it for business connections then be really good at it. Boomers are weird about golf, like if you suck like they do then it’s like you’re one of the bros but if you’re really good (scratch golfer) then they’ll treat you like simps treats a woman. I’m a +1 handicap and get old dudes from my club bothering to play golf with them 4X a week

It's all about cycling these days. You also have to ride a couple different disciplines.

I learned to golf as a kid, with a set of clubs and a handful of afternoon lessons with groups of other kids. I was a caddy at a private course for a few summers in high school. $300K+ for a membership, but I got to play for free once a week. I had a competent handle on my swing but the results were erratic. As a young adult, I played mostly with my own friends or the tradies I worked with at the time while paying for school. Average public golf course, blue collar, weekend player. Then one year I went and bought a one year membership at a local course, with unlimited range time, carts, and seven-days-a-week golf. It cost me about two grand for the year and the course was great for variety and replayability. I started golfing 5-7 times a week in the afternoons. I knew the club managers, staff, and often just grouped up with other members as I always played single and that’s frequently how it plays out. Everyone was friendly, some were corporate guys like me as. Senior managers, engineers, government workers, established career types. There were also small businesses owners and landlords, locals and people from out of town. I met a lot of people at my “home course”. Tournaments are fun. Chatting about golf at work was fun. Inviting girlfriends out to the range or the course. Lots of fun for barely $170/mo, and I got my handicap down to about a 12 in a year or so. Golf is a game of leisure. The type of people who truly “play” golf are the type of people you definitely can’t go wrong networking with. You’re going to have to put in about 10 hours a week minimum for practice, otherwise you’re going to embarrass yourself and damage your image. Golf is like a dance. It involves practice, preparation, knowledge of rules, care and maintenance of your equipment, and most of all, savoir faire. It is an EXCELLENT “arena” of soft skills, and attracts those who enjoy that aspect of the “game”.

i've always found people that hate bikers interesting. i get it. bikers are annoying, roads arent designed a lot of the time to accomodate them, whatever. but whats funny is people who rage against them are all fat lazy douchebags (like jeremy clarkson, not saying i dont like top gear). they rage, but the reality is if ever got out of their car they'd be totally decked by these high test bikers. these dudes are going 15 mph up hill fucking raging out while you sit and stew in your car. it's hilarious. i would not fuck with a biker who is full of adrenaline from asshole car drivers

yeah man golfing is worth it but dont feel the need to buy expensive clubs. get on fb marketplace or craigslist and just buy somehting that fits you. play with ppl who play or get lessons. regardless, you're only gonna golf with valuable business connections if you make the tee times, or if you happen to play with them at your company's golf tournaments in my experience. that said, im decent at golf but it has never furthered my business life yet as a 26 year old. its a fun and relaxing time to get out into nature though! similar to skiing

Golfing mega based anyone who disagrees is liberal plebbit cuck. But you gotta find a good crew to gamble with. I gamble just as much on the golf course as I do on shitcoins. Most rounds I’ll drink about 8 beers and win or lose ~$500. A couple years ago I had to report the income on my taxes cus it was like $15k realized gains. Golf courses are full of degens everyone there trades shitcoins/options/sports bets/poker etc. normies think it’s all old rich people when it’s actually all strip club people

i work in very high value sales, the kind that require board approval to purchase
you'll golf with a senior executive and since it's golf you have a couple hours in a small group or 1:1 to sell them shit
if you golf you're also first in line on the team to go to the open or whatever "for work" which is basically a paid vacation to get drunk and shoot the shit with boomers
seems worth it for me
can also hang out with the boys on the weekends and golf, getting yourself some normie friends

>Is Golf a good way to make connections in Business?
Could be. If you join a club or start playing regularly you'll meet a fuckload of new people and become acquaintances. You'll get into other peoples friend circles and that applies to business as well. People who wouldn't normally know you in an industry, you're now on their radar.
>Would it be worth investing in Golf clubs and lessons for the financial implications?
Impossible to quantify. I will say that if you get into golf it'll become a MASSIVE money sink. It's a hopeless addiction.
>I've been asked a bunch over the years to come Golfing with coworkers/bosses
I play golf with my boss and often discuss all things golf whenever I see him. It's probably the best way to build a relationship with a boss or clients outside of taking them to sporting events in corporate boxes. I can't think of a better way to get an "in" than playing golf simply because it's accessible to everyone who isn't a 3rd world street shitter.

you'd be surprised, apparently those bikers will literally start kicking at each other's bikes at the end of some circuits, even the tour de france. best bud of mine cycles, and he told me when he sees this one dude in his hometown and everyone else notices him the guy goes from 0-60 in 2 seconds and fucks off like the lightning.
i'd wager that Icarus documentary didn't do the sport any pr favors, especially after that trans cyclist smashing all the womens records.

So Tiger Woods tied for 45th in this latest tournament since...
>Woods, 46, hasn't participated in an official Tour event since suffering serious leg injuries in a February 2021 car crash. His most recent Tour appearance was actually at the Masters in November 2020.
"The Masters Tournament is one of the four major championships in professional golf."
Scheffler at 10/1 and McIlroy at 7/1 odds for the Masters.. bets are live.. jesus christ, you can bet on games up to September!

Looks like this Thursday at 9am the Honda classic with a purse of 8.4mil will be the determiner for the FedEx Cup winner..? Palm Beach Gardens, FL at the PGA National Members Club course! Rham, McIlroy, and Scheffler are the top three here with Homa, Finau, and Schauffele behind.
90 hole total course with 5 playable rounds of 18 holes.. double digit winds come this weekend.
