Is "The Intelligent Investor" still relevant at all today? I'm just starting out trying to learn about the markets.

>> No.53754195

does the book say you should go all in on bitcoin? No? Then it's not relevant today

It's good if you are literally retarded. The book is meant for retards.
It's perfect for you.

but it has "intelligent investor" in the title so clearly it's not for dumb people

It gives a very good overview of the basics and a general framework to think about things. But the financial markets have changed a lot since the time it was written so you need to read a lot of other things to keep up. In developed markets there are very very few bargains left so you are going to be buying good companies at very high prices.

Are there any books that explain more developed markets better?

>You can't beat the market

There. That's it. That's all that the book says.

Yeah, but keep in mind they've layered on entire sedimentary layers of bullshit into the market like futures contracts on shares, price-insensitive passive investing, etc. Graham also didn't go through a global currency rugpull followed by a soft-default via inflation.

There’s one good chapter about dealing with market fluctuations (basically ignore them) but a lot of it is boomer value investing garbage that’s completely irrelevant today
