Lots of jobs in the northeast (mainly factory, agriculture and retail). Northeast is also VERY white outside of Cuyahoga and some cities in Trumbull and Portage. Ashtabula is mostly white trash, but they have cheap land. Outside of Cleveland, it's a very boring region, not much to do entertainment wise.

Homes are moderately priced, not very expensive, but not cheap either. It's a linear market.

Basically, if you want a slow, quiet life, surrounded by white people, that isn't super expensive and don't mind having a factory, or retail job, pick a rural area I thr dark-pink section of the state.

Ohio:
North West Ohio is dead, completely dead, no jobs, southwest Ohio is the "CVG" area which is basically Cincinnati + Louisville Kentucky. Jobs are there.
North Central Ohio is Cedar Point, literally that's it. North Ohio is mostly dead until you get towards Cleveland. No jobs.
Central Ohio is all Columbus, Cbus is literally one of the most spread out cities I have ever been in, more so than places like Houston. Jobs are there.
Now we switch
South EAST Ohio is completely dead, barren junkie land that borders WV. No jobs. Central East Ohio is basically Pittsburgh rurals and the abandoned town of Youngstown, some jobs but you commute
North East Ohio is Cleveland and there ARE jobs there but Cleveland is clearly the rusty city that can't keep up with the times.

So to sum it up: If you don't need a job, pick a dead space
If you need a job, probably stick to the CBUS or CVG area, East Ohio has jobs but is rusty and depressing and will always involve a commute to either CLE or PIT

One of the main things I disliked was how shitty the job market was, especially as an unskilled 17-20 year old. Now I'm a $250k/year engineer and get treated much better.


boomers (and gen x with a boomer mindset). That's who you're working for in Ohio. Bypassing the boomer bosses of Ohio would make it much more digestible.
That said, I wouldn't know how to break into socializing there and winter would still be very long. I'd be considering extended time away during the winters unless you have an indoor hobby.

the east side of cleveland is still high class and nice. Hunting Valley, Chagrin Falls, Pepper Pike. Maybe you could even go as far out as Chesterland, Aurora. Solon is a pretty nice suburb for starting a family, but the nicest area is by far Chagrin falls.

I suppose Shaker Heights is still good too, but a little close to the city. Just keep heading north on Shaker blvd until you hit green pastures.
