I don't know man it's pretty based if you go outside holiday periods. Mostly older couples and people who like cycling (many pro's go in the winter as a workout holiday).

You should watch out for tourist traps OP, but i guess you figured out you're at the wrong side of an island. Go more inland or at the more modern parts of an island next time, or where the locals are (mostly north side).

Im from La Palma (the one with the recent volcano), but lived many years in Tenerife. Then your best bet is to look for someone online, as there are a lot of shy and autistic people around here like everywhere (im the example). The turistic part in the south of the island (las americas, los cristianos) is completely different from the rest, lots of english, italians, russians so the language wouldn't be a problem.
