>boss decides to be generous and hook up the canteen with a new coffee machine for everyone to use (didnt have one)
>new machine arrives
>no one except for me and the occasional intern / new person cleans the machine
>people now call me in the middle of work if the coffee is empty / no milk / machine needs cleaning
>after 1 month I write a mail to everyone that the machine needs beans / milk / cleaning once in a while and that I dont always want or have the time to do it. All departments are now responsible.

>I get all sorts of replies from "totally agree with you" to "no one in our department drinks coffee" to "you cant decide that, its up to the ceo, he doesnt want to waste his productive workers for cleaning, you should apologize"

my old job got one of these. people were pissed at the mexican janitor because he cleaned it at 9 AM. not being able to pound sugary bean juice at EXACTLY 9 AM was a massive inconvenience, as if they couldn't just wait until 9:15 AM when he was done, but they never directly said anything about it.
