Personal trainers.
Easily the biggest scam in the gym/fitness industry outside obvious roidfags pretending to be natty shilling their merchandise.

I don't get why so many people think they need a trainer. Like some many entry level paying so much of the get go

This is a big one, also expensive shoes, and unnecessary software/media subscriptions

Because most people are so used to having all work done by them for service providers (home repair, car repair, bicycle repair, tax filing, computer repair, etc.) they've completely lost the ability to be self sufficient. You can easily self teach almost anything from a combo of books and YouTube, but despite this, most people will just write things off before they try. "Oh no, it seems to complicated! I'm afraid I wouldn't do it right!"

That, and they want require validation and motivation from others, to do something. They dont want to get /fit/, so much as to have someone hold their hand while getting fit and to tell them how good they are doing.

Because they are lazy and need motivation.

>4/5 times if you discuss doing something with another person you will fail to do, or even attempt, the thing
Social interaction/dependence is the biggest gains goblin as telling people you are going to do a thing obligates them, socially, to reward you with the modern equivelant of "good job son" due to our retarded social policy of giving people the benefit of the doubt about being complete bullshitters. This, in turn, depletes motivation to do the thing you said you were going to do as the social reward has already been given and there is actually incentive NOT to fulfill said thing in order to refarm the social "good job son" at a later date with the same bullshit.
Because if you actually achieved said thing then you would get your reward, or not what with all the cibs out there, and would need to achieve something greater next time for the exact same reward.
This is fundamentally why "we" as a society have turned to virtue signalling and endless bullshittery because actually achieving something gives less social rewards than saying you are going to make the attempt, then failing to attempt and receiving condolences which are their own reward.
This is why i refuse, despite being perfectly capable of, engageing socially with anyone who isn't completely comfortable with themselves. Or at the very least can keep their perceived personal failings out of our social interactions.

Subscriptions to random shit adds up quick. You probably seen those useless subscription apps some youtubers get sponsored by like audible etc. Other subscriptions are shit like premium accounts on food delivery apps, battle passes on games, there are some subscriptions where they send you boxes of food or samples. Normies eat this shit up

Alcohol is a huge one for younger people. It's quite easy for someone to spend a couple hundred bucks if not more on a weekend of drinking, which really sets you back if you are still working close to minimum wage.
