my sister has a very big degree and waged for 10 years hard together with her boyfriend who has the same degree and they STILL needed help from my dad to be able to get their house. everyone has help or they have a big weight hanging from their necks with their 40 year mortgage. don't believe the facade. if they didn't have a family they wouldn't be waging that hard either

houses were fairly priced (IMO) until like Q4 2020, at least in the USA. things are now completely off the rails. homes that sold for $250-275k @ 3% (roughly $1200/month mortgage) are now going for $350-375k @ 6% (roughly $2300/month mortgage.) i work in accounting and make good money, and i'm unironically priced out of what i could comfortably afford just 3 years ago.
