I studied machine learning / NN in grad school and write infrastructure code for deep learning/computer vision models at a fang . Reading this thread of people bickering about how GRT has anything to do with AI is painful. Yeah it's a cool protocol to make ETH queries cheaper. But so what? Any kind of networked operation (anything on the Blockchain!) Is too slow to go in a training loop. If you want the data off eth Blockchain for training purposes you would index the chain yourself and generate your dataset from that offline, way cheaper than millions of GRT queries. That would be the value proposition of data protocols. End users probably shouldn't have to be exposed to the token and quite frankly don't want to be, but rather revenue for requesting data should be redistributed to network participants, whereby a native token is traditionally the preferred means of doing this since the token can also be used by the team to fund R&D.
