Me and most of my friends growing up fell into this category. About a quarter or so actually lived up to expectations, and the rest have basically floundered their way into meaningless unproductive lives. In a number of cases, it's because they had it too easy growing up, so were lazy and didn't even try to fix it, just ended up accepting failure and mediocrity.

My dad is rich. I get the bare minimum until I finish my degree and get a job. Don’t blame him, I’m a lazy POS lol

I knew a bunch of kids like that growing up. They're mostly fucked up due to negligent parenting.

Came here for this.

MOST of the time the parents are very successful over achievers they aren't very observant or caring parents. Kids grow up all fucked up.

The good news is, since it's more acceptable to not have kids, the monsters aren't bothering with the pretense. Look at Macron, Merkel, May, Harris, etc. I doubt Chelsea Clinton would exist if Bill and Hilary were younger.

I don’t know anybody like this IRL, everyone in my town works minimum wage jobs or at the local factory/warehouse. Their kids end up doing the same thing. I’m going to guess kids of successful people are more likely to follow with similar careers and stay in the same wealth class.

Yeah, pretty much. My doctor parents gave me a $750,000 property and I'm set to inherit a lot more when they pass away. I lived in their city apartment when I was getting my career started, too. I always knew if I was in deep shit they could give me money, and they did on a few occasions. Now I make decent money plus rental income. There was an issue for a few years that neither me nor my brother had kids but now I have a nephew so the pressure is off.
A few of their friends' kids have ended up drug addicts, gambling away what they're given etc though. I guess I gambled away a few $k on crypto too but they need never know

my parents are boomers
they are successful by default
they never made tons of money though.
A good year for my dad was a little over 100k.
A bad year was under 30k
He did not work all that much and got a million dollar house when his dad died.
my mother owns a couple of condos and my grandmother who is 102 is land rich.
