Gen X boomer BSME fag here. Director level title. If you got an associate’s degree in that and you really did only spend two years getting it, do the bootstrappy thing. Get on woth a CNC shop and get really good at turning out g code or start at the bottom somewhere with robot and plc programming. It’s going to suck at first, but you chose the technology degree route. The pay will come soon if you can program machines and robots.

Almost every time I go to the doctor they tell me they tried engineering and switched to medical because they couldnt make it. Really wish I knew that in school. It would be nice waiting around for people to come throw money at me all day regardless of whether I do my job right with zero supervision. Meanwhile I need to literally move mountains and my work is heavily scrutinized at every turn. Better than waging at least.
