It was merely the substitution of one piece of nonsense for another. Most of the material that you were dealing with had no connexion with anything in the real world, not even the kind of connexion that is contained in a direct lie. Statistics were just as much a fantasy in their original version as in their rectified version. A great deal of the time you were expected to make them up out of your head. For example, the Ministry of Plenty's forecast had estimated the output of boots for the quarter at one-hundred-and-forty-five million pairs. The actual output was given as sixty-two millions. Winston, however, in rewriting the forecast, marked the figure down to fifty-seven millions, so as to allow for the usual claim that the quota had been overfulfilled. In any case, sixty-two millions was no nearer the truth than fifty-seven millions, or than one-hundred-and-forty-five millions. Very likely no boots had been produced at all. Likelier still, nobody knew how many had been produced, much less cared. All one knew was that every quarter astronomical numbers of boots were produced on paper, while perhaps half the population of Oceania went barefoot. And so it was with every class of recorded fact, great or small. Everything faded away into a shadow-world in which, finally, even the date of the year had become uncertain.

I wouldn't predict a large crash or downturn as the macro economy is different compared to 1929, but it is am ominous signal for the future of the market. It is unprecedented in the modern era of the non-stop inflation and debt-based system we are used to. If positive real interest rates do happen, and the drastic increase from 25 bps Fed funds rate to 450 bps fed funds rate in only 1 year proves to have been too quick and harsh of a tightening, we may see unexpected results such as deflation, where holding onto Dollars makes for better yields in purchasing power than investing in the equities market.
Only time will tell, it is an unprecedented decrease unseen in many many decades.

we won't even be remotely close to CPI deflation until SPY has collapsed 60% and housing is down 75%. The money supply has doubled in the last 2 years the CPI is still lagging by 80-90 cumulative percentage point increases in the overall price level to match the new money supply

AMC execs dumping into their shareholder base somehow doesn't feel as scummy as all the SPACs and recent IPOs.
It's not like anyone's hiding that AMC's current valuation is retarded. They know it can't realistically be saved, so all that's left is to pump the maximum dilution they can achieve, and keep kicking the can down the road as long as their retail investors keep slurping that shit up.

With most of the SPAC shitcos, its more upfront fraud. Blatantly fake sales/growth projections, underhanded warrant repricing, lockup trickery, stuff like that. AMC was at least, at one point, a real public company.

Jerome powell is a massive pussy bitch nigger
He thinks he can crank CPI down to 3 or 4 percent and then call it a day.
What these MMT niggers don't seem to understand is that the price levels in the economy will EVENTUALLY catch up to the new M2 level, so inflation will stick at 6%+ for 5-10 years easily until it really starts to level off. If jerome ever starts expanding M2 again in the meantime it's just gonna get even worse.
The whole fed balance sheet has to go, and the government has to stop running a deficit. That's the only way to save the dollar and permanently bring inflation back in line. The coof print was simply way too much.

M2 is just one measure of money supply. Most likely dollars are exiting to the non-overlapping zone of M3. Although the Fed themselves admit they don't know how to track the supply of dollars. They can't track overseas dollars.
>Does the government just destroy the printed money
Yes/No. They retire old bills routinely but print new ones to maintain the quality of the circulating notes. "Money Printing" you hear about is actually the Treasury deficit spending and minting Treasuries as collateral to back what they didn't collect in taxes. Commercial banks print money too when they originate loans and mint it with a mortgage security.

The thing is if/when that merger passes, AMC is dumping down to APE's level, not the other way around.
The ape gang investors of AMC are only there for the MOASS, and how's that ever gonna happen when they merge in infinite new shares?

I haven't looked at the arb play, but usually borrow costs eat this spread and it becomes a bet on how long the merge takes to complete. There were a lot of SPAC warrants trading below exercise value back during the peak of that mania.

every cafe & restaurant me has hiring signs and banners, and meanwhile theres a million guys riding around on bikes and scooters delivering food

thing is regardless of the pay a lot of people will always take the gigwork, where they can sleep til 4pm, then do as many $4 deliveries as it takes to buy a delta 8 preroll, smoke it, get hungry, go out again and do another $4 delivery run, buy themselves a sack of mcdicks, go home and pass out for a few hours, wake up again around 10pm, repeat process, pass out at 4 am, sleep until 4pm, repeat. theyre not making enough to get their own place but neither would they be around here working at a random cafe.

these people are smoking, drinking, living and having fun, and all the people theyre delivering to are sitting alone in their apartments getting cold mcdicks for dinner lmao. really whos the wealthy man?

/smg/ I just figured out how to inverse yourself. Place trade in a paper account. If it works you're smart and it builds confidence for your main account. If it doesn't work you just reenter on your main account where you cut loss on the paper. I think I might start doing this for my swing trades because they rarely end up working.

Drawing lines on a chart is a meme, we're not in fucking art school, anon... especially on small time frames it's basically tea leaves reading.
Drawing one (1) meme trendline on a weekly timeframe to check the overall trend is a sane choice and acceptable. Same goes for the commonly used moving averages (50, 100, 200) but not because they are special it's more like every retard and algo seems to respect them so you should have it at least displayed (not basing decisions out of it though).
The only indicator you really need is volume. Checking unusual price action (up or down) you can get more clues out of any trend than every line you can draw, unironically. Especially after the stock went sideways ("forming a base") for some time.
Just don't fall for the TAtard memes by shitting up your charts with every indicator imaginable it doesn't work.

Embarrassed to say but I've been on smg for over a year now and while I know what volume is obviously and why it should be tracked, I still am not very good at reading it and knowing what a "good vs bad" volume looks like.
For example, do I place longs or shorts at low volume expecting a breakout? Stuff like that isn't clear to me at all.
I've been doing alright just momentum and swing trading and buying low and selling high and only dealing with shit I know about, and obeying the 3 day rule (that last one has helped a lot in avoiding getting rekt)

If you're risk-averse you bet after the volume spike to make sure it's not a fakeout and the stock momentum got really changed for whatever reason. Like you see a stock trading sideways for 3 months and suddenly it spikes relative to the volume of the previous days/weeks - something "happened". You might place some small bets on the volume spike and pyramid into the position after you have confirmation of the trade, but again fakeouts happen pretty often so don't hold the bag if you see it doesn't stick.
I would not go in before any price action because that's just dead money if the stock continues to trade another 6 months sideways, I'd rather look for a better trade.
