i dont have any numbers but i just smell a change in the wind. in the past year or so, out of the cars that go by playing loud music (other than me blasting weezer), its way way less trap rap and a lot more classic 90s rap as well as R&B, as well as latin music.

i think latin music is due for a huge resurgence honestly. it was big in the early 00s but then kind of vanished with the exception of pitbull and the occasional despacito crossover hit. But the number of latino people is still increasing rapidly.

and looking at it another way, i think violent rap appeals to white people because their own culture is so tame and peacable - its basically like cowboys & indians for them, its entirely a fantasy born out of the comfiness and safety of their own life. but latino people have their own roots of masculinity, so they arent as impressed by rap. like basically, i 100% understand why someone would listen to trap rap over ed sheeran, i would too, but latin music is a powerhouse on its own whether or not white people are paying attention at the moment, which means it always has a good chance of getting big again.

another factor influencing this is that the picture of an american teen is no longer a kid in ohio or new jersey but rather one in florida or arizona - the areas of the country that are growing fastest & have the most youths are heavily latino now.

The biggest contributors to hardcore rap and trap music is young white teens/men. What you said is dead on. That's not to excuse the support within the black communities, but I'm sure the average black joes (working class, nerdy anime fans, really anybody etc....) aren't thrilled about gangsta culture and killing over nothing. I think across ALL cultures in the United States, people are getting tired of degeneracy being pushed. It's something the left just can't comprehend.
