I don't have any other chinese exposure so I'm not worried about that. I'm also not worried about the ADR structure by design. If anything, this is really an issue only if you think xi will want to nuke baba after he disappear'd jack ma as baba clearly didn't get his approval since. If that happens then yes, the ADR structure means you're fucked. I think it's worth the gamble in light of amazon becoming a clone of BABA and my discovery that normalfags are now recommending each other to buy off of alibaba if shipping time is not a concern.

I'm DCAing into 2x leveraged NASDAQ-100, because I'm more comfortable with 2x.
But even there, what I'm worried about is not the leveraged aspect, or the index by itself.
It's by how the govs could fuck us at some point. Don't be surprised if they close down those leveraged ETF to retails, I remember an article from one of the governing entities (not sure if it was the SEC or some other entity) talking about it. And, of course, it would be done at the worst possible moment, where you'll get fucked in the ass during a krach, with no way to recoup the losses.

Median income is useless data.
There's a large group of people working 10, 20, maybe 30 hours a week at some minimum wage job just to have some income so they can claim welfare.
There are "self-employed" living with their parents.
These are all in the sample set.

So the median ends up being the 20th percentile among full time workers. The worst of the worst. Even at 50th percentile among full time workers, it wouldn't mean much. Most people simply don't put in any effort to maximize their income.
It shouldn't surprise you that people interested in trading stocks, a vehicle for earning profit, are largely the type of people who have also put in some work to maximize their employment income. The top 10% isn't as rare as you may think. It's still 20 million people. One in ten who work. You probably know one of them in your personal life, if not several.

the squeezers are getting squadoodled, but if management has half a brain, they'll issue shares at these retarded prices, which oddly enough would help them repay their bonds and actually hinder the bankruptcy thesis in the short term. the bond prices are increasing too as this is what's likely being expected.

also used car prices have been randomly pumping too, which is probably related as well.

this is what doesnt make sense about the market bottoming before a recession because the recession would reflect itself in earnings and people base their decision of the price of a stock on earnings, meaning they need to know the earnings first before they can price in a stock. so how unless people jsut ignore earnings and price in something that they dont know will happen, like a company recovering, they can only use the current data they have and rely on guidance which is also not reliable.

> However, we need to walk this path together until the victory. And -- when we'll be able to end this war by throwing out the occupiers -- in the same manner together we'll be able to start the difficult work of rebuilding Ukraine -- our cities, our economy, our infrastructure. It is already clear that this will be the largest economic project of our time in Europe. It is obvious that American business can become the locomotive that will once again push forward global economic growth.

>We have already managed to attract attention and have cooperation with such giants of the international financial and investment world as Black Rock, J.P. Morgan, and Goldman Sachs. Such American brands as Starlink or Westinghouse have already become part of our Ukrainian way. Your brilliant defense systems -- such as HIMARS or Bradleys -- are already uniting our history of freedom with your enterprises. We are waiting for Patriots.1 We are looking closely at Abrams.

>Thousands of such examples are possible. And everyone can become a big business by working with Ukraine in all sectors -- from weapons and defense to construction, from communications to agriculture, from transport to IT, from banks to medicine. And I believe that freedom must always win. And, I invite you to work with us right now.

So is investing in these companies that are going to rebuild Ukraine easy money or what?

people from shall we say flashier cultures want something that will *catch the eye* first and foremost - and the uglier & more expensive, the madder it makes "haters, " the better.

china is building the ring roads around their own cities that will be growing for decades to come. beijing is in china, you know that right?

the majority of people in china are still farmers who are literally restricted to their farms and not allowed to move to cities. this is how china has kept their cities mostly nice, growing steadily, and free from ghettos. now you and i would call that "unfree" and "serfdom" and thats one way of looking at it, but it works.

they can build these roads and *then* slowly open the taps on letting rural people migrate to cities, once the infrastucture is already there to support them.

in america we only add more lanes to the highway once the traffic jams are so bad that people demand them. in china they can start building the highway twice as wide a decade before anyones even using it, then build apartments there, then move people in.

My reply probably sounded snarky, but I literally dropped out of eng school, completed a finance degree, and worked in an industrial plant. And I still have no idea about 'packaged foods', though I once watched a fascinating video about Chobani's amazing story. Maybe start with that. Success in that industry has more to do with the food than the packaging, and the producers that pay attention to what the consumer genuinely wants does pretty well over the long-term.

5/6ths of the world is still in a state where eating at mcdonalds vs cooking at home is a status symbol

as poorer populations start to add income beyond subsistence, basically all of that will go to luxury goods to demonstrate status

its only once people are so wealthy that luxury goods (short of yachts or mansions) dont mean much that they start not to care again

anything that is expensive and ugly can become a luxury good on that basis alone with sufficient meme power

and a bunch of white faggots hating on the cybertruck WILL give it that meme power

its going for the g-wagon market, simple as

you absolutely cannot understand china without reckoning with the fact that so much of their population is literally bound to the land at the moment

people say the dumbest things about china. "oh their population is starting to go down! theyre gonna implode!" like lmao WHAT? they had a fucking ONE CHILD POLICY up until fucking 2015. they lifted it once their concern was no longer about too much population growth.

china century is barely getting started

Yes, and if everyone sees their salaries being cut, they know layoffs are the next step. So everyone will begin to look around at alternatives, and the first ones to successfully jump ship are necessarily the most talented.

Retarded diversity hires with no other options burrow in and cling to the last, tiniest paycheck they can. In fact they'll often make it worse because passing an interview at some other place can be harder than just throwing more successful coworkers under the bus.

Saying that the company trimming the fat is a reason for shorting is borderline retarded when even grade school children are aware that advanced AI are available to these companies. AI is cheaper to maintain than retarded dead weight that take shit and cigarette breaks 6 times a day. The company is saving cash overall by getting rid of leeches.

I mean, arguably, inflation is so high right now that it's not out of the realm of possibility the market could go back down if the fed says "whoopsies" and has to reign inflation back in and that would mean we are going to have to see some serious hits to the labor market. Hits in sectors like manufacturing and such.

I'm very bullish rn, but, I am gonna be honest I deff do not think that inflation is on a trajectory to 2%, personally.

>> No.53555283

Problem is you think a company like Intel is using free, consumer level technology. I’m sure they’ll step right up and announce that most of their human element is useless because that won’t make waves. Better to blame the “economy” to save face. This isn’t rocket science. Companies do slimy shit like this on the daily because they exist to make money and that’s IT. Everything and everyone is expendable to meet that end.

At the end of the day, these big tech companies realized that they can run their companies with a substantial cut in labor without losing productivity. They layoffs are unironically bullish because they're doing it specifically for the shareholders. They didn't need to layoff those employees, they wanted to. The big question is where do the tens of thousands of tech employees go now that they're layed off? They're too proud and soft to work blue collar jobs.

So I did the interactive brokers application thing, said I was a student and ticked the boxes that said I was interested in options and leverage. Then they said my financial circumstances are not right for me to offer those products, so I said whatever, and changed my income to above 50k. Then they accepted my application, but now I get an email saying they want to know how I am making above 50k as a student

Fucks sake just let me fucking trade. Why is it that I can join crypto markets like binance and they just let me do what I want but stock brokers put 273847292798 hurdles in my way? JUST LET ME TRADE YOU MOTHERFUCKER

Anyways, if I re-do the application and say I am a software engineer earning 100k, will they ask for proof of employment or whatever? Or can I just lie about my profession/employer and they will accept it?
