Because Nintendo comes out of nowhere every decade and makes some garbage like the Wii U.
There is plenty of talent making nintendo games, but the company isn't managed very well. Their weird decisions produce some huge innovative winners, but it's riskier than just running a big subscription MMO or releasing the same annual lootbox bullshit.
Like all Japanese companies, it's sitting on around 25% of it's marketcap in yen collecting 0% yield.

Square-enix is in a similar boat. They have plenty of cash, but they randomly sold tomb-raider and a bunch of their single player studios for pennies, just to sit on even more cash. FFXIV has overtaken WoW at this point, but no one cares.

Bandai-namco and Capcom are the best run Japanese video game developers, and even then they're not that great.

2) structure the formula using alt-enter in the formula bar to help you visually break apart the components of the function

If you MUST do it with Excel then here's what you do:

>Sheet 1: Table of percentages (how much to which account) by month. Enter the first one then fill/copy 'em, manually change if you wish. Add a row to verify each sums to 100% if you want some robustness.
>Sheet 2: Table of dollar amounts by month. Single formula with values filled from the percentage page, protip if you fill the cell number increments. Dollar amount in once again copy-pasta the first one, if you need manual entry then can do on a per-month basis
>Sheet 3: Sum the dollar amounts from sheet 2. You can even do it on an accumulating basis if you want to just be able to keep filling the same formula

All of this should take less than 5 minutes to implement and you should feel bad you didn't already do it this way. And it will take maybe at most 3 math operators in a given cell including +-/*.

Yes, that is why you have an accumulate sheet. Do you mean that your split percentage depends on something other than a flat % per month? if yes, then just implement that "catch up" logic in the % sheet referencing the previous corresponding column in the account balance sheet, or a special "anon's fucked up unnecessary correction factor" sheet if you are properly committed to simple formulas, and add it in (now if you do this, the 100% check in the % sheet becomes a bit more important so make sure you don't fuck that part up). This may add an additional 2-3 minutes to the time to make your spreadsheet, a small price to pay for adding your special snowflake correction factor while not giving the future maintainer of this sheet (possibly you) nightmares to the end of time.
