Seriously and honestly. Doorman.

I'm working as a doorman in NYC and it's pretty decent for doing nothing really, the only problem is that the cost of living in New York is high but I make do for now.

I'm making like 22/hr and I made like 6k at Christmas last year which was pretty sweet.

In NYC (the parts that have doormen especially) that's garbage.

But me, I'm doing about that, similar bonus ($5k or so), rent's only $350/month for my own studio. Very short commute. So yeah.. it's all about where you live. Midwest here. $48k here is easily like $65-70k in NYC.

Rental car sales at a major airport will get you $70K/yr.
Vector marketing/Cutco cutlery. 3 day training, make as much as you want. $10K-200K+/yr
Any labor jobs like welding/plumbing require 6-12 months vocational training but will bring you good money, $50K+.
eBay/Amazon dropshipping requires 8 hours training videos and you can make as much as you want. Put in 40 hrs/wk and you'll be making absolute bank.
Real estate is good if you are the right kind of person.

>> No.535506

I heard that Elevator Installers make like 70k/yr. Don't know much of anything about it but I was just browsing through construction, trade-style job statistics the other day and that one just stuck out like crazy in terms of its large salary. I wonder what the catch is...

OP you should investigate it and find out.

Man elevators are boring as fuck.
They look exactly the same everywhere.
I've been all around Southern California, and I'd swear all of the elevators were designed and installed by a single company if that weren't unrealistic.
The only difference between all of the elevators is the trimmings on the inside. Some of them have vinyl floors, others have rubber.

>> No.536599

>>536596
Yikes, I'm curious why you put these two options together. They both have a negative halo to them.

I'm interested. Maybe not garbage man but janitor, just cleaning a building all day is sweet so long as the pay is at least double minimum wage.

The OP didn't specify that the jobs need to be held in high regard by society. I've never heard of a janitor making decent money ever but I've heard many times about garbage men making good money.

>> No.536657

>>536654
The jobs needn't be held in high regard. I think the only janitors that are payed really well are those contracted to work in remote regions, like a warzone, or Antarctica, or those who work in high security buildings. You're right about garbage men making good money though.

The keyword is municipal. You work for the town/city. $40-50k + full healthcare benefits + full pension after 20-25 years. You are union so the only way you can get fired is if you assault a patron, and even then it has to be felonious.

If you are halfway competent they will make you a foreman and you get $60-65k/year. Blow enough municipal fat Italian politician cock and you get a sup job at like $75-90k.

Cop

I had no prior education and was working at McDonald's. I got into the police academy at 19 during a recruitment drive and I earn 75k pa not including overtime and the like.
Plus they pay for quals if you want them. The pay is incremental so it will keep going up by 3-5k every 6 months.

I work in a 'country' area so I do sweet fuck all erryday.

I don't know if spending 6 mo in a police academy and a year as a rookie on probation qualifies for the 'minimal training' that OP is talking about.

Granted, you are paid during that time, but there is a difference between entry qualifications and training. OP asked about training.

This. I work for a rail company, albeit I did need an engineering degree and I am non-union. Still a great gig though, amazing benefits and decent pay (the union guys get paid more than the management, sadly)

Super low stress job too and the railroad is full of interesting, colorful characters.

This.

You do need a few things to get into it though
>pass a rigorous physical
>some level of intelligence
>the ability to pass a hair test and random piss tests
>make it through 4 weeks of training and a 90 day probationary period

The hours are awful and you don't get much time at home. You are expected to get a call at 3am and be at the yard by 5am. My cousin works as a conductor. If he takes the longer 2-3 day trips he gets enough bonus pay to put him over 100k/yr. He is union so the only way he can get fired is if he blows a signal and causes a serious accident. The bad news is the railroads want to go to 1 man trains to save money, safety be dammed.

Bellhop/Doorman/Valet
Considering that only 10%-30% of your shift is actual work I considered it good pay plus tips can be pretty decent depending on the gig.

One valet gig was at a really upscale mall and it was pretty sweet. We had a bench to sit on when we were not moving cars and tips were like 15$-30$ a shift.

Bellhops usually make 5$-10$ per trip (taking a load up to a room). Like the valet job when there was no customers to serve you just bummed around.

the only people making money with dropshippers are the dropshippers. You will be competing with 50 other people who are listing the same stuff and get their stuff from the same dropshipper.

And what happens if you get a buyer who buys something, and the company is out of stock? Guess who's pocket the refund from paypal comes out of when the buyer makes a dispute with paypal?

fucking this.
back when I was a junior/senior in high school and had neckbeard tier hobbies like anime, video games, magic (card game), dnd, and warhammer, there was a guy who whenever he came around the game shop, he would buy a shit ton of warhammer figure (very expensive tiny plastic swordsman and shit that you have to put together and paint yourself) he had a huge army of them. he would probably spend about $400 every 2 weeks on his hobby. I think he was a train engineer though, not a conductor. had lots of cool stories about catching hobos
