Let em tell you something, belle epoque it's the decadence and degeneracy of atheism. As usual with humanists, it gets worse as time passes by. The next stage of torrent of crap is with Musil since after WW1 which killed the coomer fantasy of the belle epoque, ie it was peak hedonism, with men being super coomers and women being super whores, muh technological progress, muh flying cars in year 2000, technical progress and scientism where the new gods. Not aware of any bad consequence for their behaviors, the loss of the hardon for the dogmas of the human rights is depicted and the usual crap about the bourgeois, sex and boredom is found in Musil. Musil is the usual yuppie atheist homo sex fiend coomer who digs phenomenology , mediation and mysticism in dilettante after being bored from the bourgeois humanism hyping science and progress. The same crap from Proust 100 years before. No wonder wanabee and careerist intellectuals and their fanbase love him and turn out to be bisexual.
After some secular universalism to feel spiritual and self righteous and salvage the secular democracy and public servants ( which created WW1 and 2) , they went on to their deification at all cost (in order to not fall back to monarchies) ie fascism (communism+nazism). all those bourgeois intellectuals from the non-stem fields contaminated the stem fields and since the non-stem careerists have no new mental masturbation to offer as the new grand narrative, all the stem intellectuals killed positivism for good and now there is nothing left besides a neo leftism which is compatible with capitalism= trannism.

The high-water mark of English, French, Russian, and German lit happened at the same time. I am not really sure why it ended. However, I do think it's unrelated to the World Wars. Around the Belle Époque, the quality of lit overall just dropped. How many classics from this period really exist?

Anyway, here are some things about 19th c. authors that may be relevant:

- Authors live more interesting lives, they tour Europe, fight in wars, get sent to gulag, have affairs, etc. which gives plenty to draw upon for literature
- Aristocracy & aristocratic upbringings still exist (but are on the way out)
- Study of the classics is in sharp decline, French replaces latin as the lingua franca but overall intellectuals write in their native tongue
- Because educated men write in their native tongue, their audience expands, which means...
- ...You can earn a living as an author (!), this is huge - Dostoevsky didn't even sell very much but he largely lived off his novel income from what I recall
- Reversion from Latin to local languages inadvertently spurs local literature scenes centered in cities, London, Paris, St. Petersburg being the major ones
- Each city's scene more or less evolves independently of the others, London is highly focused on English societal problems while French lit is more expansive in scope, Russian lit is very Christian, etc.
- Universities are still full of charlatans (according to Schopenhauer), but not yet the soulless profit driven activist-filled hellholes they are today

My best guess, it happened because France, England, Russia, etc. had a massive # of newly-literate people who desired any book they could get their hands on. So literature as a profession becomes viable. The national conversation takes place via literature. And much like ancient Athens, it produces gold. The question is why it stopped.

Yeah, the idea is to invest in two uncorrelated assets to diversify your trades. For example, if I was trading the SPY I wouldn't want to also trade copper, since they sort of move together. But if I held SPY, I might consider going long on EUR/GBP as a hedge against the SPY going to shit, or I could trade USO at the same time so they move independently.

Once the tickers are saved, it opens the last 250 sessions for each symbol and compares it to each other symbol it has, calculating the linear correlation between each one, and shits it out into an X by X table. I did spend a little bit of time formating it to look nice, but it's all raw text.

Probably easier to grab the file yourself, rather than the image, since you can sort the columns and shit

The most interesting insght im getting from your factor matrix is the fact that VIX has a much stronger correlation to tech betashit baskets like QQQ. Not surprising at all but maybe I'm better off trading a VIX/QQQ pair rather than a VIX/SPY pair as i normally do.

>What approach are you using? How do you calculate nonlinear correlation?

I like trading pairs. Most of my book is pairs trading so one week mean reversion trades
The average half life is about 7 days
And it’s a very sharp gradient in those 7 days
Also I apply the strat at a shorter timeframe to trade semi HFT stuff.

I basically do pairs mean reversion. So obviously they diverge from each other, or converge, and I trade them.

I cluster assets and find pairs in that cluster, essentially.

I do this for biotech equities

Basically you have 3 parts to your clustering
Industry data, price data, and long term quality data

You can decompose the industry data into 3 levels
level 1 would be industry such as healthcare
level 2 would be like drug manufacturing
level 3 would be cancer drugs

And obviously you make this quantitative by saying okay they are 60% cancer drugs 40% heart meds and hence they are in multiple teir 3 clusters

Basically this part is easy, you just decompose the 2SD range with a shumway stoffer smoother because kalman is too conservative and then model the tails conditionally.

Then you decompose their returns into an alpha factor framework which when it comes down to it should basically be all value and quality signals

ANYONE who knows how the market works knows fama french is bullshit

Not only is it not a risk factor most of them aren't even factors
Low volatility is not a factor just a combination of profitability and conservative investment that appears to be low vol
Momentum is just lagged responses to changes in quality factors
Which is why PEAD exists

Maybe. The data from Yahoo is Date and OHLCV, which would be like 24 bytes of data per entry, and when passing them into arguments in bulk, would be quite a bit more expensive. I have a "Series" class which is basically a wrapper around a float array, but I can do math ops against each series (eg add all the elements of each array together, producing a new array). It works for what I need it to do.

What I want to eventually do is manually download the list of daily tickers off Tradingview (8000 or so, 11000 if you include etfs) and then run it through a thing that automatically strips out the shitty ones (low volume, low mcap, penny shit, etc). TV has a screener that grabs a few extra fields like ATR, so I could for example, focus solely on equities that have a high atr% relative to its ticker price, and then grab the ticker history off Yahoo (automatically), and then run my own TA on it to look for potential entries

For me this is basically the tickers plus like 20 columns of daily information (not historical). But I can look at %D vs %W or %M etc to look for high level setups. Then if one looks interesting I grab it from Yahoo.

I find that doing one ticker from yahoo every 1-5 seconds or so avoids getting rate limited. I did actually download about 8000 symbols from them once, it took about 5-6 hours

You can unironically reduce your risk of losing your networth by taking on more risk, precisely because higher risk equities require less capital to hit big. If anything, TQQQ should be a larger portion of your portfolio, so therefore the "medium" risk portions of your portfolio is reduced, as medium-risk equities don't necessarily mean large returns.

Right, so looking at the bond market, they're all very highly correlated to each other (which makes sense). One pair that was not correlated was MEAR (short mat munis) and SGOV (0-3m treasuries). Everything else had at least a 60-90% correlation. Mostly grabbed ishares and vanguard

However, SGOV tended to have a negative correlation to the normal bonds (the same way that 3x bear etfs do), and MEAR has a weaker, but still positive correlation to the market.

So I suppose the take away here is to build whatever bond portfolio you want, but hedge it with other assets. That is, you have a lot of freedom to tweak the bond returns/strategy however you want.

Nah, that's "common" knowledge. The real alpha is two parts: 1) individual-user based data centers and 2) robotic factories. The reason for data centers is because AI will know you better than you know yourself. The reason for robotic factories is two part: 1) AI will need a physical interface to interact with the world and 2) the factories don't yet exist. So therefore, long data-based companies and manufacturing (which includes semiconductors but there are more things to manufacture than just semiconductors).

Right now it's just the last 250 periods on the daily (or less, if there's fewer data points, but most have thousands). The tricky thing with correlation is that they move together ... until they don't. So I guess just like MA's you have to keep updating it once it a while. The trading environment 365 days ago was much different than today, for example. But like I said, I'm just using it for clues to consider uncorrelated assets that I can be more confident in going big in

Actually it's fairly obvious here, risky bonds (such as high yield corporate bonds) do well when the SPY does well. It seems there are no bonds that are uncorrelated to the SPY (eg, they either all move with or against it to some degree). I use SPY because Yahoo has volume information for it, but doesn't provide it for SPX. SPY/SPX move together anyways. And same thing - TYO and TMV move against SPY the most, being bear leveraged etfs

Since bonds are largely correlated, they have the same basket of things that move with and against them - like I said, it shouldn't really matter what bonds you look at. But look at pic related. Everything in the grey boxes are uncorrelated to bonds, which make them a good offset on bonds.

So depending on the exact market and bond, WEAT, SOYB, and USO are good offsets to bonds via commodities, EOS and LINK crypto is apparently good? (though crypto is again correlated to itself, I'd just get BTC or ETH instead imo), GBP/NZD and EUR/AUD are good forex plays too.

Also, ignoring bonds in the bond correlation, we can see a lot of the positive correlation is in tech and risky things, such as Japan and Korea, long CNY/USD, SPY, copper, etc.
A lot of the inverse correlation occurs in forex. This implies people move away from bonds and into 0-3 month treasuries, or into carry trades. Look at how many people move to shorting the JPY! Japan gets heemed because people constantly short their currency when the broad market shits (to take advantage of interest rate differentials)

I've been swinging UUUU comfortably, because it's cheap and optionable, and has a decent amount of volatility (though the whole sector does). I liked URNM as the etf because it has more exposure to yellowcake, sprott physical, and kazatom (where refining uranium is the bottleneck).
One thing to look for is SMR, they make miniaturized (still like 100 feet tall) modern reactors. I think they might have some investment potential. Make sure you hold some extra shares of Sprott Physical (U-UN or SPUT) as well, since they're going to pay a special dividend when the spot price is high enough.

One other sector I want to research is pulp and paper. Think about muh green and how much plastic shit is being displaced by paper (packaging, etc). I think they're trying to decouple from china. P&P is actually a big chunk of Canada's economy, but it has a huge water and energy cost, not to mention potentially very pollutive.

Not yet, it's a sector I have to research. For example, if energy costs go up and water becomes more scarce in 5 years, then what? That doesn't necessarily mean more profit for the producers, but higher input costs.
I do like what most companies in general are doing right now, jacking up prices and blaming inflation. Seriously, go read VMC's latest 10-K filing:
>Inflationary pressures and labor constraints are trends continuing to impact our operations in 2022. Although inflationary pressures can create short- to medium-term headwinds, the combination of inflation and improving visibility of demand has created and may continue to create a favorable environment for price increases. Additionally, labor constraints (especially truck drivers) have caused delays and inefficiencies in our operations as well as those of our customers. If labor constraints continue and demand remains strong, our operations may proceed at a slower pace, which may effectively extend the recovery while allowing us the opportunity to compound price, control costs and grow earnings.
>our operations may proceed at a slower pace, which may effectively extend the recovery while allowing us the opportunity to compound price, control costs and grow earnings

>>53474888
SPY/TLT has an 80% correlation on the last year, 52% correlation during the last 60 days, and a -40% correlation over 3 years. Longer term means more of an average, but across different environments. Shorter term means it might not capture the whole picture. So it's hard to say.

Is this what I am missing not being in crypto?

Not at all the case. The Jewish people, decentralized, are culturally taught that everyone else is "other," and those who aren't religious are actually the most dangerous. Because they're no longer moral, but they still see themselves as "other."

This is another reason why Nazis are dangerous, because they're other. And they feel other and they think they're other.

We're not "other." We just know Jewish rich guys are full of shit.

Anything over 40% gain per year is just an insane amount of risk there is no way around it. For every person that gambles on options or SOXL tier funds and makes money there are 9 that lose 50% plus of their portfolio.

If he really was god's gift to trading then he could walk into any analyst team and get the job, but we all know he just gambled.

I would call my style half sentiment check/half graph analysis. I dont read 10ks or 5qs. I scalp a lot on leveraged etfs. When im down I usually hold until it picks up in my favor. Some good gains came from holding a long time like BNKU the other year, probably my longest hold of 3 months. Other gains came from scalping random pump and dumps.

im aware of my gambles but there is more to what i do than just pick a random stock, close my eyes and press buy or sell. you can read all the financial documents you want and still have the market go the wrong way, then post-rationalize why you were wrong and it was obvious. much like trying to short tesla.
