Why are my broke friends impossible to help?

I have a guy from high school who watched everyone do the most basic things to get their life together like hold down a job and save to buy a house, have a partner to share bills with or simply cook their own meals but they refuse to do anything to better themselves. Its just games, junk food and self pity. For years. I wish theyd kill themselves already sometimes

i got a bro just like that OP.
one of my bros though, very well off, travels with highschool bands to places like disney and las vegas. he's a year from six figures and since last christmas he has 1. destroyed 4 teeth crashing drunk on his bicycle the night before he was supposed to go to Ireland for work; and 2. just recently got a DUI and immediately paid for an attorney to get it expunged.

i may be poor but at least i aint broke man. it really is sad.

friends are wastes of time bro. just go your own way, befriend those on your way when you are there. beyond that its meaningless. I always get a new GF when I'm not wasting my time with "friends" I always make a lot of money or get a new good job or deal when I'm not wasting time with friends.

There exists a certain class of people who just can't figure out life no matter how many lessons come their way. We call them losers. Losers usually have an external locus of control so they just immediately conclude everything good and bad that happens to them is essentially random. Losers assume that everyone who's better off than they are were just lucky.
If you suggest to a loser that they improve their life by doing something, they'll will come up with every possible excuse of why they can't do it. It doesn't matter what it is or how easy or simple it is to do. The reason is they already decided to fail, so nothing can get in the way of their failure.
There's no way to really help a loser because it's in their nature to lose. They are experts at failing. Losers can't win.

damn op are we opposites? i've fallen into a deep despair since losing my job.

haven't been able to sleep for a month (am borderline perma delerious now because of it)
lost my gf because she moved and i didn't follow due to the job.

all i do is sulk around my friends, and am almost permanently anxious about myself and my future. It's all I think about and talk about i know it is bumming them out... they don't invite me to go to clubs anymore either, just to the gym. barely leave the house (i had to move back in with my parents).

I went from jacked giga chad to absolute shitboy in a span of 6 months and i honestly wonder if my friends think I should kill myself to get it over with too.
