Does Canada have the same tipping culture as America?

From my understand the answer is yes, but Canada has only embraced tipping in the last decade or so. The funny thing about it, is that in Canada, servers are paid actual minimum wage. So they're making like $15 an hour, and still demand tips on top of it.

In America, because of tipping's prevalence, servers/waiters have a lower minimum wage. If you're a server, you only make like $2-3 per hour because it's understood you'll make much more in tips. Even though it's retarded, tipping at least makes some sense in the USA given how our laws are structured. It makes no sense in Canada or European countries

As a Canadian, hell no. For most restaurants they don't expect tip, unless it's a sit-down place. We actually pay our servers like a dollar under minimum wage, but in some provinces it's minimum wage. They get tips too especially if they live in the big cities where people love to splurge on a night on the town (e.g. Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal).

I bartend in Toronto. Flat out don't serve anyone who doesn't tip. We've got something here called Smart serve which effectively makes me liable for whatever dumbshit you do after I serve you alcohol. It's a dumbass greenlight yellow light red light system that's totally arbitrary, but it literally lets me get away with refusing service to anyone I want.
