The thing about those trailing period returns is that they are only the average yearly return across those time spans. Everything had 100% 1 year return around March 2021. Total Return factors in dividends, so it's also possible for the price to be more flat and get more payout. Reinvesting dividends is important for compounding total return. Some mutual funds do this, but etfs generally do not.

The numbers look about right since globalization benefitted international co's and dollar based interest rates fell broadly. But now we are moving into a higher baseline interest environment, along with a dollar shortage. While in the 2020s value will outperform growth imo, I'm uncertain ex-US will outperform US. Your fund doesn't leave the US entirely so it has some geo-diversificstion. It's not a bad pick imo.

If you want a better tiol for comparison, check out portfolio visualizer, put in your fund at 100% as one, spy as another, and look at how they behaved. You can alter timeframes, reinvestment strategy, etc. Much more direct about performance in certain timeframes as you can see it on a graph than Morningstar spamming you with obtuse metrics.

Go on Reddit, Twitter, or any other public space and most people are pessimistic as fuck. The average person doesn't have enough in the stock market to care about a week or two of green. They see thousands in layoffs and see that as a sign of a downturn.
On a fear/greed index we're maybe at a 3-4 out of 10, but on the upswing.

The better bull case is good earnings/jobs/gdp/business as usual. This fed pivot meme is completely opposite what JPOW himself says every time he gets on TV. Also the powers that be know inflation is how regimes get changed, and we're looking at that level of inflation soon if the fed does pivot.

If the market can handle 5%+ rates fine why are bonds pricing in aggressive cuts this year? Everyone can't be right here.

>LEIs and yield curve suggest recession
>Stocks suggest climb to ATH
Bonds depend on your interpretation, either they're expecting aggressive cuts due to a recession or expecting aggressive cuts due to inflation reducing and AVOIDING a recession. but then basically all the major LEIs would've been wrong, which would be a first.

market participants having false expectations.
the notion of rate cuts for the remainder of this decade is ridiculous.
with oil rising, inflation will come back.
we're going to enter the 2030s with a fed funds rate well above (positive) 7%.

I don't think so because corporate bonds are priced for a perfect soft landing. If the bond market was pricing in a recession then the yield spread would be bigger.
