What pisses me off about Dave Ramsey (and every other guru out there) is that they deliberately lead the poor and desperate off a cliff to nowhere - it's a strategy the rich use, which is tell run of the mill blue pilled financial advice to normies (max out your 401k, get a mortgage when you're 18, stay loyal to your first employer to get your pension, etc.) while they'll never reveal the secret behind their immense wealth.

Dave Ramsey is worth over 700 million total when you include his real estate. Notice how he always tells people to build wealth slow and have a few million at age 70+, while he never tells people how he got his 700 million.

The secret is to be the guy providing the shovels, not the guy (like everyone else) buying the shovels to dig for the gold aka the false dream. Selling the dream is how you get rich like Dave.

12% annual return isn't that crazy if you keep it all in stock market index funds. That's basically what the S&P 500 has averaged per year over the last century or so.

It’s because his audience is just scared retards in their 50s through 70s. Are you really this dense? People who watch Dave Ramsey want to retire but don’t have enough working years left to take a risk. I think you’re not as smart as you believe you are

I took his advice at 24 when I had nothing now I have over $300k at 28. Didn’t take bigger risks until I had 100k saved. Wouldn’t be here without his advice from the beginning.

I didn't say I disagree with everything Dave says. I strongly agree with Dave on the killing all debt first before doing anything else strategy for example.

You say you saved over $300k by 28 by using his advice. Here's my questions to you:
> What's does your salary, 401k yearly contributions, and cost of living look like?

The reason so many struggle to save money is a mixture of income issues and cost of living combined. My point is that you can't budget your way out of poverty and into riches. There's many critical details people like Dave leave out when giving out their advice. Income is an extremely critical component to building wealth, period. And no, I'm not saying to gamble to build wealth either.

Everyone in this thread saying Ramsey is only about saving. You are dead wrong and have not watched his show. Yes his investing advice is a meme. BUT. That his not how he says you make money. He says, repeatedly, that how you "get rich" is to increase your INCOME. So, >>53307150, you are dead wrong. The way Ramsey got to big $$$ is by starting a BUSINESS... which he repeatedly advises his viewers is the way to making money AFTER they dig themselves our of their retarded financial decisions.

Now look. Some folks can make money in the stock market. But Dave's viewers, realistically, probably can't unless they stick to boomer funds with a friendly advisor to talk them down from panic-selling the bottom. So telling them to maxx their skills and improve their INCOME (he shouts it like that too) is the right advice.

Is /biz/, with mostly 20's and 30's y/o social misfits with either good STEM jobs or a lot of excess time to watch the markets, the best audience for Ramsey? No, probably not (though crypto retards could stand to listen at least a little bit, GME baggies too, on the other hand /smg/ the only real thread on this board will have better ideas at least some of the time). That doesn't mean there is no audience for which his advice is useful.

Tbqh it doesn’t matter if you watch videos about crypto trading or coding, skill acquisition takes time and that time has to come from somewhere which most likely is going to be from low tier socialization. Do introverted people have an advantage by having less social battery and therefore less desire to manage? Of course but regardless at some point you have to grow up. It doesn’t matter if you waste your time going to bars or playing video games it’s still time wasted if that’s the only thing you do.
I know so many people my age who just do absolutely nothing to improve their situation and wonder why they can’t get ahead.

ever meet one of these people IRL? it's hilarious. my gf's mom is a 60 year old version of this. 500 credit score, living in a ratfuck slumlord apartment, MAYBE $10k in her 401k if she's lucky. bad decision after bad decision after bad decision: scratch off lottery tickets, goyslop 24/7, $25k car loan @ 14% interest, lifetime smoker, etc. and no, she will never be "my problem" as my gf and i are on the same page: her mother's future is dying in a state run nursing facility and her ashes going unclaimed.

Not that anon but the first 10 commandments only go so far. If the mother isn't a virtuous Christian, trying to "honor" her will likely just mean you pay for her to live with you or pay her debts. I don't know what the right call is maybe just give her grocery money or something

You don't have to explain that. That's exactly the situation with my mother. Boy it sure feels good to tell her to shut up sometimes.. and she does. Once a week I also physically lift my father-in-law off his death bed to get fluid drained from his liver due to poor lifestyle choices.

To be fair, most people don’t have that as a goal. If you asked honestly, while many dream of wealth, it’s not the plan. They’d be happy to be more comfortable, protected from economic disaster, retire a little earlier, have a little more money to give or share or afford a humble vacation. People want to budget and plan their way from working poor to working class, or just stretch their $40k/year income enough to worry less about money. I think he’s got value for that audience
