happens more often than you think. the usual outcome is joining a multi-year waiting list for a state owned assisted living (not nursing) facility. you won't make enough money to live there but they cut deals where they take your entire social security check except for like $20 a month, which you are expected to use on sundries like laundry detergent or shampoo. you will be placed in a 1 bedroom unit with a roommate -- no private rooms.

Im a save and index fundcel, but if you hit that age and truly have nothing saved then a guy like Ramseys advice wont do anything for you. Your tour is over, and your situation is beyond saving. No amount of saving during your few working years will put you in a chance to have any succcess.

Its live on govt benefits, rack up debt, sleep in kids (if you have any) benefits, and just ride off into sunset

I have a lot of money saved because I have no idea what to spend it on. Im not a basement dweller though, I go on vacations, weekend drinking with friends, go on dates, rent a nice apartment etc. but at the end of the month I'll always have around 800$ left which I put aside. All of that and I only earn $2600/m net, I literally dont know what to else to spend it on.
