I am going to land owned by one of my relatives tomorrow to cut timber into firewood. the timber has been pushed over by dozers and there is tracks to easily access it and i know how to use chainsaws.
what length should i cut each log before splitting it? was thinking a foot. also relative has hydraulic wood splitter.
hoping i can do this often, insane amount of high quality ironbark timber.

I started a business with my friend 3 years ago here in Canada. It is only a seasonal "side hustle" but does damn well. We install and Uninstaller car shelters for winter. A lot of people have these here, I'd wager about 25% of all homeowners have one for winter here in Québec.

We basically charge about 200-400$ to install and 100-200$ to Uninstall, if I bring it down to a per hour rate, we make about 50-70$ cash per hour. It's seasonal, not high maintenance, almost 0 capital cost to start, high margin, and I'm outside with my friend talking shit having fun and making money.

Love it

Here's what I do:
I find a job or contract that requires a certain license or certification. I collect licenses and certifications, so I probably have the required compliance. I bid the job for 30% higher than it would cost if the license or certification wasn't required. Then I go hire a company to do the job that doesn't have the required license or certification.

they work under the auspices and protection of my license, cert, insurance, whatever, and I take a third of what they make. Win win.
