I don't think that's much of a legacy. I was reading a biography of Jim Marshall (the founder of Marshall Amps) yesterday. Now that was a real man, true visionary engineer that made a real product that was used by guys like Jimi Hendrix etc. when he was a nobody and now his products live on forever, even after his death.

I don't see much inspirational about having kids. Building some sort of pioneering company from humble beginnings from some small shop is much more admirable and retaining a true passion for the craft through the decades.

All of this is irrelevant abstract bullshit. The real reason to have kids is because its a natural human impulse and need similar to having shelter. Its not quite as integral as eating or breathing with which you die pretty quickly if you can't do those activities, but its like having shelter in that while you can live without shelter by being homeless, it would be a complete hell of a life.

The thing about not having kids is that you don't start feeling the damage you've done to yourself until your 30s or 40s when the crushing weight of loneliness kicks in. Society runs a huge psyop regarding the benefits of a consoomerist single bachelor life so childless people don't feel the damage they've done to themselves until they realize they're dying of loneliness at which point its to late to start a family. Reading through this thread as 26 y/o virgin who's never been in a relationship and is probably lightly autistic is depressing as hell and makes me feel utterly hopeless.

I feel like my only real options long term are to try hard to some 4/10 already overweight girl, pump out a couple kids with her and then watch her get really fat and we probably won't even really like each other, or stay a single wagie in the cagie spending my money on meaningless shit.

Getting married and having kids as I often see it, just to continue this meaningless cycle where your kids will have to work their whole lives because you are not very wealthy and then have kids of their own to try and have any meaning to their life, repeat, repeat, or grow bitter and old alone while having more money, but still being stuck in the cage if you don't make it.

I feel I've been depressed most of my life so maybe I'm just fucked regardless but all realistic options seem so very bleak to me. Honestly the only thing keeping me going is the dream which I don't truly believe in of dumping a lot of my wages into crypto and making at least a few million, then maybe I can get with a 20 something year old when I'm in my late 30s and have healthy kids that way and be able to leave them something worthwhile, and not die alone.
