You don't need to avoid dividend stocks, but you shouldn't chase them either. Buying an ETF of exclusively dividend payers is midwit logic.
The biggest benefit of dividends is that you can hold a stock for a mere 2 months and still receive long-term gain status on that payout. Ironically dividends are better for short-term traders than for investors.
