Yeah most days I don’t bother trading until 10 or later until the market has done its fake and gay move for the morning session. I actually usually just wait til the afternoon session and look for retracements a lot of the time, but there’s plenty of days I don’t even bother trading because it’s either way too volatile or it’s just straight down or up. And yeah it really fucking blows getting stopped out right before a huge run, especially when you call it right and end up getting stopped out anyways when it pulls back a bit before the run. But it’s better to deal with that then not use a stop, I’ve done that enough times to know never to do that again. Always gonna miss moves sometimes just gotta remember to not revenge trade when you do and fuck yourself. A big thing for me too was sizing appropriately, I used to buy 5 contracts at a time sometime and then when it runs against you it just feels awful. With only 1 or 2 I can stomach the pull back or loss if I’m stopped out without mentally freaking out

You'll get some paperwork from your broker with all the tax stuff you gotta enter. Depending on your tax software of choice sometimes you can merely import it. Other wise you gotta enter it manually but it's not hard. Simple fill in blank stuff. Yes if you hold stocks longer than 1 year you get a tax break on it. i mean there's a lot of truth in what you're saying that if the winds change, it can hurt really bad, but you still can swing the SOX's if you know what you're doing. i even do puts/calls on them if there's enough volume and i like the greeks

all the leverage factor does is increase how bumpy the ride is, how high the highs are and how lows the lows are in an even faster-speed roller-coaster, meaning the highs can change to lows pretty fucking fast. this means it is theoretically possible to time it if you play this strategically, if you're not intending to go super long or something

reverse splits matter a lot. they're generally seen as a bearish event, i mean you're heeming people's stocks to prop up the price. not to mention if you're optionsfagging, you have to deal with pesky adjusted contracts which may or may not have enough volume to go in/out, otherwise you're still holding on, you get exercised and you're due different numbers than what you signed up for since the contracts get adjusted

basically in my experience they're a nightmare but to be expected. you see reverse splits typically when the price just gets too low to the NASDAQ's liking, and they threaten to delist

A lot of times the market seems to act irrationally. I think the only proper way to do it is building a data analyzer and performing tons of due diligence on companies. Even then there is risk and the time cost makes it not worthwhile for a $/hr viewpoint unless you invest significant amount.
