>All my family and my wahman insist I should pursue this
Anons, how would I avoid feeling like a dick if I take a separate offer after doing all the on-boarding stuff? Do how upset do companies get when wagies do this?

Yeah, that guy is going to stiff you. You would be stupid not to keep the current offer.

If the other job is much better, pursue it. Obviously don't mention that you might be leaving to the new company, until you sign the new contract.

If you can swing it to be remote congrats, you have 2 jobs, double the paychecks

at my last job another new guy started at around the same time as me. i worked in accounting, he was in corporate finance (nothing impressive, just FP&A wagie bullshit.)

he stopped showing up after 1 week and i heard that he quit because he got a better offer. a few people politely shit talked him in the usual "i can't believe he would do that" way, but everyone forgot about him shortly thereafter.

the moral of the story is that no one gives a shit. spurned normies don't matter. do what's right for you -- and it's up to you to judge whether this new opportunity is worth it.

Neither is remote, unfortunately.
Best case scenario my current one would allow 2 days WFH per week after the probationary period.
My buddy has a salaried remote job, and while it isn't much, he doesn't even put in 15 hours a week. Quite jealous.

Thanks for the anecdote, I figured as much.

They won't care at all. You're an operating expense to them.
