put 50% in something thats safe say ETH or BTC
put 50% in an alt coin that has a function future use/ demand, that has 10x to 20x potential back to ATHs.

My pick would be HEX. You can stake and earn upto 30% compound interest while you ride out the bear market. 21x back to ATHs

Its broad adoption and limited supply give it value. You can trade BTC for just about anything, even shop real world.
In my personal opinion XMR is better than BTC, but only when the world realises the importance of privacy will XMR outperform BTC.

ETH definitely has more function. Hamstrung by fees tho. Pulsechain will fix that, which you will get all your HEX duplicated on when it launches.

The short answer is don't invest. Just try to collect 1.5%
Very few of these 'coins' and 'DAOs' and 'platforms' have any real usecase or value beyond speculative hype, so your only shot at making money with crypto is to speculate, be right about your speculation, and cash out/swap out into gift cards as fast as you can. Having access to a trading bot can greatly improve your chances at doing this. Crypto isn't really all that different from Forex in this regard.
That being said, there's a few cryptos with longer time horizons that you can 'invest' in that I won't bother naming, as you've more than likely already heard of them.

You'd need to invest in a small coin to maximize profits, cause you don't have enough money to actually get significant gains from ETH or BTC. If BTC did a 10x from here it would be a great bullrun, and you'd make 20k from a 2k investment... Not much.

I recommend all in. 50% btc and rest into some well known alts such as bnb, ftm, matic, eth, etc. You can gamble a small bit in shitcoins too such as dogbat, but that's if you feel comfy with shitcoins. Just saying, but those have the best gains. If you are very risk adverse, just stick with blue chips.

Ethereum simply is a bad choice. It's centralized and a scam, look into MEV sandwich trades. Besides, it may get classified as a security. Bitcoin is the only choice.
