Because you take advantage of having such ability while you still have it. Remember covid? World completely shut down. Enjoy it while you still can before some dystopian bs is implemented where you cant travel at all.

Travelling is great to expand your horizon on the world.
It might be good it might be bad but it will leave an impression on your for the reat of your life because you experience it for yourself and not through someone else doing it.
And also it makes great stories. Nobody wants to talk to someone sitting in front of a screen all his life.

A little travel is ok, but taking loans out for it is probably retarded. It helps put things in perspective to go do a tour of some underdeveloped countries, it's kind of fun too if you make an effort to learn the language and try and stay off the beaten path - people get super appreciative of that and it opens many doors (I stayed for free at a hostel for a month, incl meals just cause the owner liked me and I helped him with some marketing and engrish stuff).

But to answer your Q, habits I avoid? I don't pay for parking, I'd rather walk an extra 15 mins. I never go to bars, clubs or restaurants unless I'm dragged out for a family do or a friend's bday. I get take-away maybe 5-10 times per year and I never get it delivered. I don't wear anything branded / pricey (only cheaper stuff that looks presentable). No jew-elry. I don't pay for entertainment (thank the lord for torrenting). I still rock a TV from a decade ago and then to make it 'smart' I got an SBC for it and now it can watch stuff off the webs / things from my NAS. Haven't had a console since the ex-demo first gen xbox I modded back in the day. I don't fuck with newer gaymes with the aids-transactions model. And the only subscription services I use are internet and prepaid yearly mobile phone plan.

Because they don't want to actually see a country or it's culture, they want to see their image of it.

If they actually gave two shits about being cultured and learning about other countries they would not go to vacation

You do not get to pick and choose what parts you want if you want to experience a country.

You really want to become more cultured and understand things? Literally go live there for a while, and I mean live, work etc. No lifelines or safety nets, truly see what the average person experienced there.

That means go to fucking Milwaukee, not new york or Los Angeles. It means go to some suburb of Seoul, not the center.

I swear to God it's just a form of virtue signaling and masturbation to something ""exotic"" but within their little illusion

That's a very narrow minded opinion. I"m not a normie by any means. I don't go out, I don't have any friends, and I don't have many hobbies either. I've been working the same job for the past several years, saving lots of money because of that lifestyle. I'm not an interesting person, I've always been sitting behind a screen watching TV shows/movies, play video games or surfing the internet. I decided to go long-term solo travelling abroad because I want to get out of my comfort zone and experience something completely new. I want a different perspective and make my own opinion of the world than live through others online. I won't be going abroad and taking videos/pictures and post them in Instagram or whatever (because for one I don't have social media, and I'm the sort of person to live in the moment), but I'm taking this an opportunity for me to see what it's like and learn from it. If I don't like travelling then I won't do it in the future or try something different, but I won't know unless I do it for the first time.

It's not normies but certain personality types. For me going camping 5 times to a forest near a river might as well be 1 experience but to some others it's 5 very unique things. I think it's the introverted sensing (running experiences through an emotional filter) vs extroverted sensing (seeing the world more objectivly and seperated from feelings.)

Traveling is ok but not something I get overly excited about especially if there is a ton of logistics involved. Then the anxiety of dealing with everything is the opposite of relaxation which was supposed to be the point. Also crowds and a lot of chaos are draining but if my destination is a private beautiful place, I'll endure it.

Other people have different reactions to stumuli. Nonstop nomads who want to ride dirt bikes where one false move will fling them off a cliff are just as weird as hermits who never go 2 hours beyond their hometowns.

Get that IQ chart meme, and make yourself the midwit, who hates traveling, and make the far extremes enjoy traveling.

Plain and simple, some just don't get it.

You only live one life, on this earth, you only exist once. Regardless of any godly beliefs, there's one thing us humans can guarantee, that this existence is finite. This planet is a beautiful, rare occurrence in space that should not be taken for granted. And the human presence on this earth is simply, awe inspiring, even in all of it's beauty and ugliness. For, it is not the grand chambers of the vatican, the luxurious beaches and clubs of miami, or the pyramids of egypt, that get me going just in name. What gets me going is the story of Miami, the story of the vatican. The generations of human existence that went into these places. Everywhere you go, you see the inlays of humans, the history that preceded us, paths carved by generations who are long forgotten by most people. When traveling, I find interest in things that most people find monotonous and dull. The inlays of a road that was tore out many years ago, driveway marks on the curb of a road, with no house leading to it. The recurring theme of my travel mantra really is:
"We will be forgotten just as the last generation. But I won't forget."
I enter a place in my mind where as I learn about what happened here, I can envision the period, and almost take my mind back to that place in time to understand what was going on. What did this street look like when it was new. What did this town look like when it was new? Times Square, can you stand there and take your mind through every generation? Think of all the people, who have walked through, how many were destined to be world leaders, and how many were destined to go to a what now would be a billionaire's apartment to shoot crack into their eyeballs. I could visit Detroit, and find a week of things to do. Some people are empty and need empty places to visit. And some, just dont get it.

When you’re old and think back on your life you realize you spent the whole thing sitting in front of a screen you’ll be glad you’re dying of cancer.

You are a poor Male. I know this because drinks are free for women. For middle class and up, drinks cost a tiny percent of income. I'm middle class and I could buy 10 drinks at the bar with 1 hour of overtime pay. When I was 19 and working at Home Depot, one hour was basically one drink. When you're poor, you are right, it isnt worth it.

I agree, it's pretty easy to not spend that much money either if you're smart about it. Next week Im flying across the country to visit a friend I"ve been playing Xbox with for 15 years. I'm staying at his and his gf's place a week so no hotel, and he's buying all the booze since I shelled out $200 for the cheapest round-trip package I could get.

I think the biggest key to nailing a trip and not spending that much is having someone you know there who's local and likes you.

Do you think everyone goes travelling with the intent to post pictures online and brag to others? People travel for all sorts of reasons. Some travel because they want to get out of their comfort zone and explore something new. Some people travel because they like food and want to try new cuisines. Some people travel because they want to experience things that aren't the same or can't be found in their native country. Who says they have to share their experiences with other people?
>All the cities in the world are pretty much the same, barring cultural landmarks. And you can see images of these from your home on a pc. Hell, you can watch videos on youtube of streetcams.
Yes yes yes. You're right, if I want to see what a country is like, I can just go on Google images and Google maps and look at the street view. Thank fuck someone actually went there and posted this online. What? Why the fuck isn't there anything in this remote, desolate location? How the fuck am I supposed to use my mind and imagine what it feels like to be there if no one traveled there before? Oh, that dish looks nice. Shame I can't try it for myself because no restaurants and takeaways near me offers this. I just have to imagine what it would taste like.

It's sad that you are living in the shadows of others. But you do you. If you want to consoooooooooom media and die alone, that's your life. I just think there is a world outside your room and it's a waste not to take that opportunity to do those things while you're still alive.

snigged, you are an absolute goy. Travel actually makes people waste their life away since they slave for the whole yr to pay their 2 week holiday.

The better option obviously is to not travel and save/invest the money (in ETFs) to retire early.

Travel is no cure for dying alone either unless you take enough money at the club like the retard below you.

How is travelling the only way you can go outside of your room? You can go to local parties/events as well.

Literally every day I get hung up on all the things i thought I'd do one day like sky diving, scuba diving, partying in asia, buggy driving, whatever. Even without disease the period in which you're "young" enough to do all the shit without thought is cruelly short. People should do it as much as they can between 20 and 40, because when it's gone it's fucking gone and that's it and then you settle into the long drawn out part of life where you sit in a chair and have to brace yourself to pick something up of the floor.

Says who? Where did you get this belief that everyone does this? Perhaps you saw this on a Chinese cartoon forum and never actually spoke to people in real life that did go travelling. It's funny because if you did go travelling then you can gain a better perspective on this topic, especially if you stayed at a hostel or a place with travellers where you can talk about their backgrounds.
>The better option *obviously* is to not travel and save/invest the money (in ETFs) to retire early.
That's your opinion. Not everyone's goals in life is to save money and retire early. It's all black and white to you. It's either save money and retire early or spend all your money travelling and continue slaving at 65. Travelling is a waste of money to you because you want financial security and it's worth saving up to afford high valued items like a car or a house. To me, travelling is worth the money for personal development and investing in yourself.
>It is better to invest the money to work less. To me it is funny how you present the alternative as consooming media while travel is all about consooming.
What do you learn from staying in your room/town and doing the things local to you? What do you learn from watching a video of someone travelling or a picture of a city/tourist attraction? There's always going to be bias in whatever opinion they say. You can't argue with that because you haven't done any of that and form an opinion of your own.

I think people completely dismissing travelling as a waste of money when they haven't done a fair amount of it is a brainlet opinion.
>But but but muh money. That's a woman moment. Kek low IQ, they could never understand us. Doesn't everyone know that you can bank transfer your wealth and assets into the afterlife when you die?

Travelling is some of the most fun you can have. You meet all kinds of people and get to experience different cultures and what they have to offer. When abroad, people are generally more relaxed. For example, the atmosphere in backpacking capitals like Thailand is way more care-free and upbeat than the west and you see a different side to people and life. You will even see different sides to yourself because you'll be put in situations that wouldn't happen back home. It's a great way to break up the monotony of a structured routine. Travelling isn't for everyone but there are lots of contrarian folks on here that could do with loosening up a bit and opening their minds.

Traveler here, I did 3 months in Italy for under $10kusd. I'm spending another $2.5k on a month of snowboarding, and when the weather warms up I'm going to do another 9 months in europe, probably for ~$30k, maybe a bit less since I know how to be more thrifty now.

Personally, I do it for the art. Once I've seen all the art, I won't keep traveling. Normies do it for (mostly) consequent free sex, especially the w*men, or if they're like boomers they do it because they've been told to by their mind control tablets (cruises, tours, etc) and to flex on other normies.

I have been to berlin/paris/london and many other places in the uk. I have been to thailand, singapore france belgium denmark germany and so on and so on.

So you are assuming I have never travelled or my goal would be to buy a big house/car. This is not the case at all.

I do honestly not understand why you would care to know the background story of some person you would meet once and then never again.

>To me, travelling is worth the money for personal development and investing in yourself.

Could you give me an example how travelling helped your personal development and how you gained from it as a person?

> What do you learn from staying in your room/town and doing the things local to you?

Well what do you learn from going to some shithole and seeing oh wow they do not even have proper tubing here and I cant even flush the toilet. Lots of aggressive stray dogs everywhere in the 3rd world. If you go 1st world it is just all the same as at home.

Ill concede that it does not always have to be a total waste but in most cases the travel part is just obsolete to accomplish what you want.

Being frugal and saving money doesnt mean you would be unable to spend it all when you die. You can just work and improve the comforts of your day to day life. It is much better to invest in the quality of your day to day life to help yourself grow as a person compared to spending it on some temporarily event.

Travelling while you are young can develop you as a person and gives you a larger set of reference points for looking at the world. I travelled/backpacked with my family a lot as a teen and visited all continents except South America and Antarctica, it definitely helped me get my priorities straight later in life. Wasteful trips that normies do is another thing, typical normie spending keeping them living paycheck to paycheck;
>Pointless golf trips several times a year to Spain
>New phone every year
>Leasing new cars instead of paying cash for a cheap reliable car
>Go out drinking every weekend
>Eat at restaurants every day
>Renting a bigger apartment than they need / not living with family instead of saving for a downpayment
>Not getting married and sharing costs with a spouse
>Buying cheap clothes every month instead of using quality garments until they break
>Constantly increasing spending as wage increases instead of investing
It's entertaining how quickly these things compound, if you just get your shit straight in your 20s you can get in a better situation than most normies ever do while barely trying simply by having an average salary and only spending on things you really need

That's why these people have to rush to do absolutely everything they can in the new city, with a travel itinerary (or worse, a paid tour), whilst the aristocrat who has generational wealth and a passive income can enjoy life at his own pace, with the freedom to go and do whatever he wants. If I wanted to travel, I would take a year out to do so. I would drive a car all across Europe, staying in different towns and cities. I'm not gonna lie about the horde of ladyboys that tried to chase me and my tourist buddies on Walking Street one night but they're easily avoidable.

They actually dont. Most of them use their yearly savings to go traveling like 15 days a year.

>Travelling is great to expand your horizon on the world.
And I bet this was a really good point if you made it like 40 years ago, but traveling 10 days to a place will give you not much more insight than just watching vlogs from people living there and such. Unless you practice a specific sport or hobby that needs you in person there, you dont really learn new stuff or broaden your horizons. Opening your mind through traveling is the same kind of bs I listen from vapid whores at the office daily.

Not people who travel often though. Those actually have money. So the more you hate them for that the most likely they are to be better off than you lmao.

I find it kind of sad that travelling is seen as some sort of big investment for amerifats and leaving North America to travel is nearly unthinkable. Even some of the poorest working class people in the UK still go Spain or Portugal for a couple weeks a year. I also think literally everyone here goes a Greek Island or Ibiza with their friends at some point during their late teens to early twenties to do a copious amount of drugs, alcohol and sex. If you've got the money and you're not a sperg who'd just sit in the hotel then do it.
