What is your best proof about people today not being able to afford the same things as our parents for the same amount of work? Can you cite anything or post some studies?

Everyone makes it sound like our parents with a HS degree could work at a grocery store as a minimum wage employee and still buy whatever they wanted for the most part if they worked full time. Show me some numbers.

The Simpsons, Roseanne, and the Bundy's owned a house, had 2 cars, and multiple children on a single hs degree low income. This was considered so normal that it continued to be a TV trope well past the time of plausibility (family guy, etc) and part of the American cultural lexicon.

thats an interesting answer but that isnt what i was looking for, i want hard numbers and graphs that are verifiable. Nonetheless you still raise an interesting point.

Homer was a nuclear technician who faked his resume to get the job, it's a common joke in the show.

Look up minimum wage in any given year, and Google the candy bar prices through the year. I'm not saying dyor, but you need to do your own research.

The info is sitting right out there. Someone made a post about candy bar prices a few years back, so I Google the actual numbers. They're right out there in the open. Also, keep in mind a candy bar was like the size of an Italian sub back then, so shrinkflation is an actual factor.

Boomers bought sports cara on their min wage job.

I remember a client telling me about when she went to college for her law degree tuition was $500 a semester and the college gave her a job that paid for it.

If you had any job, you could afford A house car, and a few hobbies.

Early seasons that you haven't watched because you're much younger than me started clearly: he just showed up on opening day and got the job. Meanwhile Lenny and Carl are both degreed physicist.

i would really rather not waste my time googling old candy bar prices because even if i find something supporting it, it doesnt seem substantial enough on its own to convince anyone of. if i get truly desperate maybe i will do that. i dont feel like using kitkats to explain this to someone though.

again it isnt that i find it impossible but i would really appreciate some sources, graphs, books, or at the very least a direction to look.

yet you still replied. I like to cast a wide net by asking questions and also researching later if I feel like doing so. You seem low IQ. I did say I would simply read a book if anyone had one to suggest.

Americans like you need to understand one thing. The rest of the world caught up, there is no cheap labor anymore. Everyone wants the things you want and have, third world millennials and zoomers see your life style through youtube and tik tok.
Comparing yourself to boomers, who where a fucking anomaly is retarded, America was king and the rest of the world was low iq, struggling to survive and was operating with low info and low capital.
If you tards wallow in your self pity and don't use your head start of being a native in the west, you are fucked. Please stop clinging on to a past that you never even lived and make something off yourself, otherwise get crushed by the global middle class, and end up waging for them.

I was just answering his question, indirectly and unsatisfactory, with pop culture references and the candy bar index thing. I don't really have a huge philosophical dog in this fight.
