That's probably what the Mexican labourers make. If you actually go to school for a skilled trade, you'll make bank. Start your own company after some years of experience, then you'll really pull in the money and just hire people to do shit for you. All the people I went to school with who ended up doing trades are unironically doing the best money-wise right now. Graduated with no debt, worked while going to school, starting to buy nice trucks and homes and starting families. All the uni grads are paying off eternal debt and living in pods.

the statistics you posted show all carpenters on average (a lower paid trade), not just licensed construction supervisors, making close to the $35 he stated for journeymen.

Is it really the fault of boomers or could it be more of the system in general that degrades young men from even participating. What’s the point of trying to work hard and support a family/nation when you can just do the bare minimum? It’s not like there’s any virgin women to marry, it’s not like the public schools aren’t out there to groom your future kids.

We overbuilt too much infrastructure in the 20th century and you can't train illegal immigrants to the level of skill to maintain this much that is even if they bother to hold a steady job which most won't. There will always be a shortage and the fiat system will always work as a cantillion effect. They hate Bitcoin because it will wind up concentrating energy generation to those that support the Bitcoin standard until the global economy actually breaks and acquiring mining equipment is impossible at which point monero would take over then precious metals. Doing a trade did not come up in my education at all, I went to a regional HS. We had a vocational high school in the area but it's not like it was shilled. In order to go you had to decide where you wanted to be at like 13/14. Pretty much the only people I know who are tradies have parents who do it who could whisper in their ear when they were teens.
As far as how they are doing? Mixed bag. Some seem pretty messed up already. The union guys get shipped all over the state on different projects so their hours are terrible sometimes. Biggest benefit is they were making at least some money right out of HS so a lot of them bought homes before COVID doubled the price for property.

Being a tradie in New York shitty makes you 70k a year and your rent is 2k a month what a fuckin steal.

It's both, boomers simultaneously increased immigration from 600k a year (legals and illegals) in the 1980s to 2 million a year in the 2000s while blocking housing from being built. Importing 20 million foreigners in 10 years while building like 100k new dwellings meant the housing bubble got retarded and boomers started hoarding rental properties while gen z became flippers. Now shit is beyond fucked and we never really recovered from 2008 because of it.

>It’s not like there’s any virgin women to marry, it’s not like the public schools aren’t out there to groom your future kids.
This is why I don't blame Gen Z for not trying, most modern women ride the cock carousel before they settle down with "the one" and the ones that were virgins that stayed with the man that took the virginity are off the market quickly usually even before they turn 18. Chances of marrying a woman that isn't a former whore is rare not impossible but rare. If you have any kids there will be lot of people that try to groom them and even the schools now. The stable family that you made with a virgin bride, with the white picket fence, big home, etc that's gone for the most part only a few are lucky enough to have the stars align to have that formally normal life.

>I don’t need to work hard for somebody else to improve myself
If you can survive on 25-40k a year than there is no harm in it and you don't have to put in a big effort if you just plan on being single and childless, more you make the more they punish you for it to in taxes unless you are godly rich to the point you cheat the system but only a small percentage of American males can do that.

i work as a painter and carpenter in california bay area.

Plumbers are straight raping people on prices, bare minimum $200 an hour and climbing. they literally come in, tear open your floors and walls, fuck your entire house up, then fix the pipes and leave.

Electricians make really good money as well, not as much as plumbers. you can also come in, fuck up peoples homes and leave it all torn apart.

carpenters make dick, you end up fixing a bunch of shit for free and no one thinks you are worth more than $100.

Keep in mind most tradesmen wont make more that 100k a year which is still nothing in the bay unless you want to live in the ghetto and get your tools and truck stolen every night.

Rent in the bay is bare minimum $1800-$2500, on top of your health care which is about $400 manadatory, your gas wont be paid for by the company so thats an extra $800 a month, you are barely scraping by

These hourly rates arent very meaningful. Tradies arent working 40 hour work weeks. Most of them are below that and spend only 1-2 hours at one job. Sometimes you work longer hours in one day and get more but its not some 40 hr work week X hourly rate to get yearly salary. Its going to be lower for most.
