Do you think in another decade or two the US will start some form of universal basic income as more jobs become automated? What happens when automation improves to the point that it impacts ordinary people from getting typical entry level grunt work?

we already basically have universal basic healthcare. emergency rooms cant refuse people for treatment for financial reasons since the 80s. tax penalties for not having insurance, etc. etc. its just obfuscated behind the elaborate quagmires of medicare/medicaid and the health insurance racket

that's not "basically universal health care." you can't get long term treatment at an emergency room -- the nurses triage you out and refuse treatment for non-emergent conditions.

Universal basic Healthcare doesn't mean you cannot choose your doctor. At least in Germany that's the case. It's still shit though.
