>get hired two years ago
>make a little effort to do my job and improve
>bare minimum networking, just attend events, talk to people and leave after a couple hours
>only thing i make an effort to stand out is to say what i think should be done about work related stuff
>get a promotion back in december that is announced companywide this week
>two coworkers get clearly very pissed
>another shows me their facebook pages full of silent quitting shit and antiwork links
>they imply sexism on my promotion since they have been there longer
>get access to their performance feedbacks since i'm one the people they report to now
>every year is "does the bare minimum and show no initiative. not fit for a leadership position yet"
This wageslave shit is gonna be very easy if those are the people i'm up against. When i had my own business i couldn't sleep from stress

I've come to learn as long as you perform 10% better than the person next to you, you'll get promoted. And the person next to you most likely has a brain made of tapioca.

I realized early it's not about what you say or do, it's about what you don't say or do

It's all about how the managers see you personally. The wage hierarchy is a social club. You can have shit KPIs but if you consistently yuck it up with the boss or volunteer to put out fires while others keep their head down, you will fly past them, even if they outperform you on hard metrics.

Meritocracy and hard work are scams to keep people on the lower rungs. Management promotes the people they like, they aren't robots. Any stories your grandpa told you about how he got promoted from janitor to manager because of hard work are bullshit, he got promoted because he was a drinking or golfing buddy with the owner.

I don't do any of that tho. There are a lot of other people ready to jump on the first opportunity to suck the boss up. I'm literally the first to leave every get together.
Besides, the three people that decided to promote me are women so i'm clueless on how to interact with them beyond my scripted 10 minute small talk because i'm a loser.

this. it's all about politics. how much ass can you kiss? most qualified? doesn't matter, if you aren't a brown noser, you ain't getting promoted.

This. Never underestimate just how incompetent people are. Your bare minimum might result in you more getting done than these mouth breathers.

I still write up my own performance review for myself. I've been doing the bare minimum lately.

This is the garbage that weak or unambitious people like to use as their excuse for going nowhere, or those who lack social skills to avoid their co-workers feeling unsafe in the same room as them.

However I will give this anon one thing right; working stupid hours at a lowly job thinking you will be rewarded is also dumb, as bosses benefit from not promoting you to avoid having to worry about a lazier replacement.

>interview at other places
>get salary figures
>go back to employer and ask for promotion/raises with my reasons (I'm not an autist and have decent evaluations)
>never mention I've been interviewing elsewhere ever to not make it looks like I'm trying to auction
>ask for 20% more than what the company I've interviewed at was willing to give me
>get a less than that but more than the other offer
It is that easy. I've been getting above inflation raises every year with this in the past 5 years. If they ever refuse i will just take the next offer I get elsewhere.

It's actually laughable how much little work is done by these "people". It's all adult daycare. This neoliberal womanized society is going to crash and burn.

>> No.53135517

Thats me, I went up a management level taking a job from a maternity leaver. It's crazy how women can be all up in arms about being allowed important management positions then say "cya!" because they're literal babymakers.

Anyway, I don't do shit, get paid, told I'm a good boy. Who the fuck cares.

Until now, a new VP got hired and he's restructuring a lot, my job has changed twice, my ceo is pep talking me telling me I'm great, VP is saying "bear with us while we change some things". While I'm just sitting around collecting a paycheck, what the fuck is this? I actually feel uneasy now, thinkinf of finding a new job.

Red pilled, Chads

>>53134527
The Red pill is little more nuanced
putting out fires here and there rather than head down focus on the assigned task is strategy but
from the outside, workers drunk on le hard
work kool aid view it as ass kissing.
Yucking it up with the boss is strategy but from the outside looking in it appears like ass kissing.

Honestly, I'm a grad student, but I agree. Prof assigned us a project that everyone seemed to be pissed about, and doing it properly would take me weeks, so I just decided I'd spend a couple days on it and phone it in and get a B or C since I know I'm at least average. I felt like garbage when I turned it in knowing that I hardly understood what I wrote. Got a perfect score, likely not because I did a good job but because everyone else did so shit. I am optimistic about the future.
