"Speak of the devil and so he shall appear."

Hello, you rat.
>It was a cold autumn night when Marina first made her move on me. The little minx had been sitting by the fire in our home in the Ardennes in nothing but a neglige which she swiftly discarded as she noticed me coming into the room. Sniffing, she made her way over to me only by scent, closing her eyes and rubbing into my stomach as she hugged into me. Her tiny paw made its way to my crotch as she got onto her knees and took a deep sniff, pressing her nose in as my own hand lay atop her head, petting her. "Hello, love.." I said, getting a sexy giggle out of her in response. "Been lonely, Marina?" She pulled her face out of my clothed crotch, nodding. Two pregnancies later and she was still nymphlike, a little beauty frozen in time. It was as if she hadn't aged a day. We never got time together like this, not with the children. I remembered the "halcyon" days with her, before our little ones came into the world. Just us, switching between safehouse to safehouse, only sustained by the love we held for eachother and the food we could barter with the silver bars we'd stored away. Just the two of us, me and my little lover. I snapped out of my rememberance as Marina nuzzled into my crotch again, and I picked her up, princess carrying her. "Up we go, Marina. " I said to her, watching her giggle as I pulled her up into my arms. The sweet little girl in my arms I swore to love unto death, with me forever. I teared up as I looked upon her, overcome with emotion. A deep kiss I pressed to her lips as I walked up the winding staircase, eager to get to our shared bedroom.

Far as the T and WBD thing goes here it is; T did the Discovery merger very badly. Basically instead of using it as a way to freely cut down the outstanding T shares and leave the divvy intact (or do a 50:50 deal) they instead said "Hey we're cutting our divvy and oh here's some WBD shares as a parting gift" The only one's who won on that deal was Discovery. (Discovery shares = 1 to 1 rate no mater the share class). As expected T owners sold the "free" shares soon as they landed. (And sold T to cause after all the divvy was cut). Then the market environment and the whole unknown CEO thing did the rest. Why fork out the green for T with it's cut divvy when you can (or could) fork out just a puny 3800 for 100 VZ at 7+% yield @ 2.6 per (who btw hiked theirs not long ago)?.

GIS is up 28% this year. They have had 4% sales growth for the last 5 years and project 4% sales growth the next 5 years.
and its up 28%.

This is clown market monetary phenomena. Traders fleeing tech and hiding in cereal. Don't buy this shit they're going to dump on you A the moment they think tech is a good buy again or B when they suddenly start being afraid of a recession again.

a boring stock like this should be trading at 15 PE without a dividend, and a bit lower with one. it's trading at forward PE of 19.

I wake up and check futures. Read up on any premarket news. Try to research a few new tickers.
9:30 - 4:00 I think is pretty obvious what I'm doing.
I typically take a daily nap at 4pm after market close. I take multiple naps on any day the market's closed, and waste away my waking hours watching seasonal anime. If there are no compelling anime, I'll find LNs/manga.
I wake back up at 6pm and check futures again.
At 8-9pm I check asian and australian markets, then before bed I write down some trading notes for the day and plans for the next day.

That's pretty much my life.

This is very true. I live in an area with ALOT of electric cars, most were tesla's. Since covid, I've seen an abundance of alternative EV's. Many Audi E-trons and an unbelievable amount of F150 lightnings, even a local shop doing old land rover EV swaps for around $75k.
2nd house country is really starting to move away from the tesla, in favor of things better suited to the desired use. i.e a genuine luxury car if they want a car, or a legitimate truck if they want a utility/daily/estate cruiser. All from a dealer that will warranty and service the product.

Exactly, TSLA did well because they were the only ones selling an electric car, but now every car manufacturer out there has a line up. These brands have better build quality and reliability then Telsas, as well they are less novelty and more practical cars. I don't want to shift gears on a touch screen for example, that is a novelty.

But trying to avoid it and not raising rates would let inflation run wild.

Ok I did a bit of googling and IBKR at least says
>Client securities accounts at Interactive Brokers LLC are protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation ("SIPC") for a maximum coverage of $500,000 (with a cash sublimit of $250,000). In addition, Interactive Brokers LLC carries an excess SIPC policy with certain underwriters at Lloyd's of London,1 which extends the per account2 coverage by an additional $30 million (with a cash sublimit of $900,000), subject to an aggregate limit of $150 million. Futures and options on futures are not covered. As with all securities firms, this coverage provides protection against failure of a broker-dealer, not against loss of market value of securities.

question would be in the applicative of this SIPC for EU citizens and especially for other EU brokers

yeah man it's called SIPC (pronounced "Sip-pic") and it's like FDIC but it actually covers more which is based. as far as if it covers non-us citizens, it looks like from the sipc.org website, the answer is "maybe." with the reasoning that if your broker opens US accounts on your behalf, then naturally the US account would be covered. but if the broker has a different arrangement, the deal could be off

you could call your broker and double check with them to be safe

BOJ wants nips to enjoy the magic of inflation like americans do. So they're maintaining zero interest rates despite rising inflation.
but understandably no nip wants to hold 0.25% yielding bonds in a 4% inflation environment. So they're selling their bonds.
which would make yields go up, and BOJ prints money to prevent that from happening. (YCC)
the idea is to stimulate the economy, forcing businesses to take risks otherwise inflation eats away at their gains.

This is a bit in opposition to their intervention in october, when they sold USD for JPY to prop up the currency.
Given rising oil prices and an already struggling yen, continued purchases like this risk sending JPY to new lows.

given JPY is still down 25% yoy, I'm not surprised to see it actually appreciating today, but that trend will not hold for long with this printing. Either interest rates abroad need to fall, or the JPY must fall, in the mid term.

bonds have two schools of thought. One is to just hold the entire bond market (BND) and chill. But the average duration is barely 6 years so it servers as an intermediate style bond fund. So most investors will ignore bonds and focus all on equities until they are close to retirement, i.e. their time horizon matches the bond fund.

Then there is the second school of thought, and that is to invest into long term bonds over the long term (duh). Because even though they crash when rates rise or inflation occurs, that risk and subsequent higher rate yield is where the reward comes from. For some reason a lot of investors and even bogleheads forget the key risk vs reward principle when it comes to bonds.

What you'll see is that bonds act similar to reits, or vice versa, except they won't crash with the stock market like reits do.

But the problem is that we all know how this modern world plays out. It's hard to be long term bullish on bonds when this world seems obsessed with inflation

You can sell bonds early. But if rates go down the bond face will go up but the bond fund wont necessarily change until it reaches maturity.
>>53105160

Not necessarily. If the bond fund has 10 year bonds purchased last year, its never going to pay out as much as 10 years purchased this month. Bond funds roll over to newly issued bonds when they mature. If the fund is long dated then its got bonds it purchased since 2008, which arent going to pay as well as new ones he buys directly.

maybe there's a shift among active investors / traders who manage their own money. but your average american basically deposits 4-6% of their paycheck into the SP500 every 2 weeks on payday and doesn't think twice about it - this is the typical 401k setup. older people will autobuy a % of bonds as well

if there is some type of cultural shift where average people and retail financial advisors start managing more actively, then you could value stock investing become relevant again. i just dont think the average american will change their habits though - they're too stupid, fat, and happy to change anything
