>give cashier $7 (one $5 and two $1s), expecting to get 50 cents change
>she asks me if I have change
>I'm thinking she has no coins to give the 50 cents exact change, meaning she wants me to give $6.50 exactly
>I have no coins, only bills, tell her
>she asks if I have an extra dollar (I do)
>give her the extra dollar
>she gives me 50 cents change
>I take my item and leave the store
>A minute later, I'm like "....wtf?"
>felt like I got scammed out of some money but was too brainlet to be able to explain exactly how right then and there, and even if I could, too bitchmade to walk back in and confront over it
I seriously can't figure out for 100% certain if I just got scammed out of $1 or not, help me understand, pls no bully

But here's where I got lost: she originally asked me for change which made me assume she didn't have 50 cents to give me as change, yet after I gave her the extra dollar, she gave me 50 cents change
Why not just give me that same 50 cents change when I originally gave her the $7 for the $6.50 item? That's the part where I realized I've been had. How was that a 'mistake' on her part?
