Covid will rip through the country and it will all open up in coming months and eventually get back to normal. Many ways to trade this: China stocks, Hong Kong stocks, Macau casinos, oil, copper. Anyone else in this?

Not sure it's even possible, I don't trade fx. Chyna have capital controls so it would be some derivative you would be trading.

Yes. But this could last one or two more years. There have been rumors that cofco hoarded food supplies for two years for whole china in their harbour storage units. I guess it takes until the West is weakened enough.

Isn't this also the case with most other stocks?

>> No.53042551

in theory the reopening would be bullish
however the chinese economy is directly affected by the recession felt in europe and america
demand for chinese exports will continue to fall into the near future, paired with chinese property crisis and debt crisis - 2023 could be a doozy, even for our slant eyed friends

The HK stocks you own equity, the China stocks you own some kind of claim on equity that people treat as enquity

China have domestic consumption now. The rest of the world still wants stuff. They are doing stimulus

Covid doesn't hurt economies, lockdowns hurt economies. People will die but the economy will come to life

Here is a prediction of covid spread in China. This will end. Some of these stocks are down significantly still and will come back

2021-2022 storm with Alibaba and other tech/commerce stocks have showed what comm party thinks about private investors and economy.

Re-election of Xi Jinping for the 3rd time in a row also shows that there are no rules, which can't be violated or changed by comm party and Xi. Essentially Xi is just China's Putin, so no rules for him.

Idk anon, it looks risky to invest in China desu.

>> No.53042681

You're the same anon aren't you. IDK what is it with you - do you think if you keep saying it that it will come true?

>> No.53042766

>>53042681
Nope, just another europoor anon, who thinks that there are risks related to Chinese government. Though I don't think it's a bad idea to invest maybe a small fraction, which you are not afraid to lose.

I was pretty much bullish in 2021 and had some stocks and options on Chinese tech and commerce. In the end due to Chinese actions I lost a lot. I didn't think about possibility of firms to be f*cked so hard by their own government. Essentially no good news for a year. This was a good lesson of not investing too much in such countries with Middle Ages government - no more China, Russia for me.

I agree, don't invest in China. I am saying trade the china reopening. I won't hold anything longer than six months. Conflict with Taiwan is inevitable

I did great with Russia and am already doing well with China. Just remember it's a trade, there is no place for holding here

I would just play the China / East Asian Emerging Markets ETFs with or without leverage
