Merry Christmas /smg/, from ChatGPT
>/smg/'s Christmas Miracle
>The members of /smg/ were feeling down as they logged on to their thread on Christmas Eve. The market had been volatile all month, and they were worried about the future of their investments.
>But as they started to post with each other and share their concerns, they began to feel a sense of camaraderie and hope. They realized that they were not alone in their struggles and that, together, they could weather any storm.
>As they talked, a few members shared some uplifting news about their recent trades and the promising outlook for certain industries. Their positivity was contagious, and soon the entire general was feeling more optimistic and festive.
>By the time Christmas morning arrived, /smg/ was filled with cheer and determination to make the best of the new year. And as they logged off to spend the day with their loved ones, they knew that no matter what the market did, they had each other to lean on.
>Merry Christmas to all, and to all a successful year in the stock market!

Do you anons think the markets will get a whole lot worse next week after Christmas and thru January? I did a day long shift at Kohl's and even toward the end, there were not that many customers coming in. I live in a pretty big city too(pop over 300,000 iirc).

>> No.53009222

>>53009193
How was black Friday this year? Like 75% of Kohl's revenue happens from October through December, so if they did poorly then they're fucked. Their niche is to put all their eggs in the holiday shopping basket, but it's a very risky strategy. Maybe that's why the CEO stepped down too.

I am curious about this too. I dont know if you guys noticed but Kohl's cash thing is basically a cult. If holiday performance is trash then its definitely bad. $KSS high was 62.74 in 2020, it ended at 28.22 last market close. Kohls has seen a steady decline in expected/actual revenue based on their Q1-Q4 reports for 2022.

I have a feeling Kohls is done by 2024

On that short a time frame there's no telling. The 6mo trajectory absent intervention is down, but the bulls can always have themselves a retard rally by refusing to notice anything except inflation coming down. Things such as: WHY it's coming down, aka grim employment picture and earnings. Likewise they can choose not to think about what China opening does to oil and the immense pressure that puts on everything.

I cannot think or comprehend of anything more cucked than having a son. Honestly, think about it rationally. You are feeding, clothing, raising and rearing a boy for at least 18 years solely so she can go and ravage a another woman. All the hard work you put into your beautiful little boy - reading him stories at bedtime, making him go to sports practice, making sure he had a healthy diet, educating him, playing with him. All of it has one simple result: his cock is more enjoyable for the women that he will eventually fuck her in every hole.

>buy stock of companies that make money, grow, have strong fundamentals and that you understand
He never said anything about leveraging up in the middle of a bear market with a 3x index ETF. At least not in what I've read of his strategy.
It's like you are deliberately misunderstanding to prove a point about how peter lynch is overrated or wrong?
You should mention the fact he made most of his success in chain outlet type companies, malls, etc which arent anywhere near as successful now if you want to point out potential weakness in his advice. Not the fact that investing in TQQQ would be a potentially bad idea atm.
Peter Lynch at his core is a value investor but that also uses growth in his picking strategy. In those conditions with long time horizon, yes macros make less of an impact.

Mutual funds aren't bad. Most of the ones that track the S&P are merely 0.02 to 0.03 fee wise. Translates into 2.00 to 3.00 a year per 10k invested. ETF's are the same (most of them). So unless your funds are totally shat your looking at 2 to 3 per 10k no mater what. This means that honestly by the time the fee starts to really impact you your total investment worth would be fuck huge and by that point you won't even notice it anyway. Consider: You toss in 50k in SWPPX. Fee is 2.00. So that's 5.00 a year in fees. Big deal. I blow that much on a single MCD's breakfast run.

I need to win the lottery to buy stocks. I was already planning on using my Christmas money which isn't a lot, but last night my laptop fan started going in and out and making a lot of noise so it looks like I'm about to lose it. There are many humans under many circumstances. It is probably best for me, I was going to hold until hopefully somewhat nearly timing the bottom and then getting some stocks, even if fractional shares, until I could get up just enough to try my hand at options (which I have been paper trading daily) to hopefully grow it a bit faster until I could get to a point where I have enough to diversify into some longs, some swings, and still have a portion for options without risking my whole. Then, once I hopefully build up enough with that, I have a tangible goods business I intend to start but there are some legal requirements that must be met in order to sell these (food) goods online rather than just at farmer's markets, which I can no longer do because I have a health issue that keeps me from being able to go out in public anymore for anything more than very short trips back and forth like taking the garbage to the dump, which even then must be timed against the issues.

Anyway, I do not know the fellow that was quoted above, I'm just saying there are certainly circumstances where one might think they need to win the lotto to buy stocks.

I'm thinking about putting my emergency fund into CDs. I need about $3k/mo to survive, so I was thinking about buying a $3k CD the first of every month. If rates drop in the next 3-6 months I'll feel like a genius, and whish I'd gone for 5year CDs. My emergency savings account is paying 3.3% and 1yr CDs are paying 4.15 that's a 25% increase in interest income on my emergency fund. An extra $212/yr. The penalties are higher on 4yr+ CDs, and I don't have enough cash to make anything longer than a 1 year emergency fund ladder anyway. Penalty on the 1 year is 6 months simple interest. What do you guys think I should do with my emergency fund?

Honestly you can probably get more in your broker's money market fund. VMRXX, SWVXX, and SPRXX all pay at least 4.15% with greater flexibility. Considering we still have some rate hiking to go, you can benefit from that and lock in CD/short term T-Bill rates once there are rumbles of a Fed cut.

Well it's no Israeli outfit (*cough* ZIM *cough*) but as far as dry bulk (e.g. grain) shippers, its performance is comparable to something like GNK. Not endorsing it specifically though.

I'd look through the holdings of BOAT for ticker inspiration as a possible next step, since it's like 20% dry bulk: https://www.sonicshares.com/boat/
