>opt out of companies automatic tip reporting to report my own tips since I often don't make tips and get taxed for thousands of dollars I never make
>report my own
>IRS sends a letter saying they believe I should have made $5,000 more tips than I did based on my jobs automatic reporting
>includes a form to amend changes, tells me I have 60 days to send in any corrections
>don't have any corrections to make so don't send anything
>get another letter noting I haven't sent any corrections in, asks me to call the number attached within 10 days
>call the number every day since, for the last 12 days, getting a voice mail saying to leave my name and number and they'll get back with me in 3 business days
>leave my name and number every day
>still haven't heard from them or had them picked up

What do I do now? Am I fucked?

Not sure, good luck. Bump for interest. You might want to go to a local office

It's an actual letter from the IRS. The only information they're ever asking for is for me to change the amount of tips I reported for 2016.

Well Im a leaf bartender and the CRA is less fucked. But if you are being honest no. They can't prove it. But if you have been depositing the cash in your bank account spending it on certain legitimate things. Or doing something like depositing crypto under the books you might get in shit and have to pay. In future I recommend spending it on hookers so there is no paper trail.

I don't mess with crypto. I've deposited only about $300 over the whole year, and just to send it to my mother to help her pay off her car.

I have a monthly tip log that tallies what I made each month. Both letters state it's not a declaration of a formal investigation and states IF I need to make changes to send them within the alotted days. So I didn't think much of it until I got this second letter asking to contact them within 10 days.

Alright, thanks. Should I still be trying to contact them or just give up and wait for them to possibly call back or send another letter?

if they said contact them. Contact them. They can be pricks if they want to. So just be nice and politely do whatever is required(and nothing more)
