When FTX went down they claimed to be hacked and their website and all of their apps may be infected with malware.

https://www.coindesk.com/business/2022/11/12/ftx-crypto-wallets-see-mysterious-late-night-outflows-totalling-more-than-380m/

Now so far there is almost no information available on this and people say it was only to encourage people to delete their account history (so they have no proof of funds).

How likely is it, that there really is malware targeting your computer when using FTX website or apps?

I deleted the app from my iPhone but its still installed on the MacBook.

I got scammed by Scam Bankster Fraud by myself losing all my dip money so any help and information is appreciated.

What's the worst case?

>> No.52962149

How could anyone even check, what malware FTX / the hacker used?

Why is the new FTX team not updating on this?

Yes, seems very likely that it was an inside job

But I want to focus on the technical / safety risks when (trying) to access their products in this thread.

There is zero information about this, everybody only repeats the same and talks about the stolen money and ftx being a scam

They posted it in their official telegram and afterwards there were no more updates on this.

So now we have people who 1) say its a safety risk for your device and wallets or 2) say its not possible for the apps to do any damage to your computer and 3) there is no malware at all

there is no technical risk, it's a lie to trick stupid goyim (you)

That's what many people say and I think as well, otherwise there would be some victims crying in public.

But I have no idea how to prove or check this by myself because I have no idea of coding.

So why is there 0 technical risk?

Also where do I buy these pills?

>> No.52962358

New FTX maangement confirmed there were two 'hacks'. One was a transfer to the Bahamas government and the other was a black-hat. You're probably worried about the latter. I don't think it's a huge deal. The malware was likely designed for a very specific purpose (stealing from the exchange itself) rather than propagating to other computers and networks.

>otherwise there would be victims crying in public
They aren’t, because they can’t find anyone to complain to, or they had already “lost” money to FTX, since why would you access the FTX app by the time it was “hacked” if you didn’t have stuck funds

>technical safety risks
why do you think there is no information?

sam is just saying he was hacked as his exchange was imploding he doesnt know if there is or isnt malware in all the apps.

What would the malware's purpose be towards users after stealing 380 million in eth from SBF directly?

Even if FTX apps were compromised by some APT malware why take the 380 million shortly after his exchange implodes?
why not anytime before that?

People repeat the same talk about stolen money because it is very very very likely that there is no malware.
And even if there was
The malware authors made more than they ever wouldof farming your device as a botnet or mining monero or hunting for credit cards or whatever they do nowadays

Inside job fake and gay aside,
It effectively boils down to - how much damage can a malicious app do?
Is it still an 'App' ? if so, its pretty well sandboxes and difficult to do real damage outside of data that the app controls. It could completely self destruct itself but harder for it to do damage to software other than itself.
Now - if its just a program that you installed - and not an app - that is possible to do more damage other than itself.

>>52962358

what if it was designed for other purposes like detecting private keys or other sensitive information on your computer? what about your log in data?

I know by just visiting a website there is almost no risk but what is with an installed app on your computer (that maybe can download updates etc)?

>>52962367

Yes, everybody with funds on FTX wants to login and check for themselves, try to withdrawal or get their csv / trading history. Some people with more knowledge in this would have investigated and reported on this no?

How is having the app going to help?
Dont you just need proof that you had an account and transaction logs? also didnt you have to KYC as well for FTX?

How? Most people are already doxxed ssn's and all through some known or unknown database breach in the last decade.

Im guessing theyd use the kyc photos to trade stolen crypto? even in that scenario think about how much more work and risky it is to make 380 million that way.
making 1million dollars selling heroin is alot harder than making a million getting illegal stocktips

He was a plant and a practical joke on people.

Like, his name
>Sam Bankman-Fried
>Bankman-Fried

They were telling us that he was a bank man that was gonna be fried.

Also it implies being fried due to drugs.
It was a double layered pun.

It was all a scam to take your money while making a fool of you at the same time.

Deal with it.

Yes, they have a sense of humor. Now you know.

You just have to be patient. There are people just now getting paid out from Mt. Gox. Retain anything you got like onchain records of tx's with your wallet addresses and if you kyc'd with ftx the adults now in charge may have some info to corroborate your claim with. But it will be a long time before you get paid anon.

I already wrote my funds of mentally but still I would like to know what the procedure from now on is + there is a little hopium to get something back.

I mean how could I even prove that I had funds there? I transferred money to ftx via bank transfer and for the trades there are no onchain transactions. I have not downloaded any transaction history from the exchange and now I can't log in to get one

you posted this to remind people to pay their taxes

not to warn them of a ftx scam

still you are right, people warning all day everywhere and very loud that you should not leave money on an exchange

the future of money they said, but you can barely buy it without depositing fiat on a central exchange

>> No.52964106

"After FTX filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with a widely reported shortfall of as much as $8 billion, a primary task for non-U.S. customers of the exchange is to establish that funds removed from customer accounts and transferred to other FTX-affiliated entities, such as Alameda Research, are not the property of FTX’s bankruptcy estate.
Establishing this would mean the money from these customer accounts should not be distributed to all creditors, as per the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, but rather belong to the account-holding customers, explained Broderick, a cross-border restructuring attorney with experience in crypto bankruptcy cases, including failed exchange Mt. Gox."
