Bought a 1000 dollars worth yesterday, just going to sit here and wait for the shorts to be squeezed and for your tears to fill my pockets.

Well first you have to make sure you know if you are looping to buy a call option or a put option.

A call option gives you the right (or option heh) but not the obligation to buy a stock at a set price (usually the current value) by a certain expiry date. The closer it gets to the expiry the less value your option has because there is more certainty around it.

A put option is the same but it gives you the right but not the obligation to Sell the stock at the current price no matter how low it goes again by a certain expiry date. So how do you buy a contract to sell say Facebook stocks at $100 a share by 60 days from now and then on the 59th day Facebook drops to $10. You can execute the option. You snatch up the 100 shares for 10 dollars and you get to execute your sale for 100 dollars a share netting you 90 dollers per.

But if you wait past the 60 days or whatever your expiry is your option expires worthless. You can't lose more than the cost of the option luckily.
